Thought dead, an astronaut is left behind on Mars and desperately tries to stay alive and communicate with home.
Not exactly in the caliber of so many other science fiction films, but it's lighthearted and generally decent.

What other things, like seeds, might have been in the feces of the astronauts. That would have been interesting to also have crop up. For that matter, how many foods have seeds in them which might be alive?
- Bets are, though, that in real life everything would get irradiated.
- He needs help to figure out hexadecimal? Well I guess he's not nerdy, so ok.
- What does an ASCII chart have to do with hexadecimal notation?
-
I would have created a circular chart similar to theirs, but would have several "shift" cards.
- So let's say there is a ring of cards, I would have three cards to indicate top, middle, bottom.
- The remaining cards would have three items on them. One at their top, middle and bottom. One would be a shift for numbers, perhaps.
- I would also have complex phrases such as fire/heat, cold, air/oxygen, water, repair(ed), disassemble(d), destroy(ed), create(d), travel, distance. Maybe various devices, components, locations and the like.
- I would also have several cards in a blank space for instructions on how to use the system, as well as complex things to say such as his travel plans, supplies etc. What's the resolution of that camera?
- Hell, if every single card in the circle was a shift card, then a fuckload of things could be communicated.
- They should be relaying him things like "stay there", since there was an earlier comment about him traveling.
- I wonder if they're examining the planet's weather systems to warn him of storms.
- He's docked, so doesn't he have access to the rover's heater?
- I would have made a backup of whatever I could, especially something as simple as bacteria. Hey wait, doesn't he have some of that inside of him? Doesn't he have a couple of weeks worth of his own sealed-waste that he's been producing since his initial harvest?
-
What, he seriously put up some plastic and tape to seal the hole? That's just begging for a storm to blow it out.
- I would have additionally reinforced either side of it with equipment, boxes or something, so that the plastic can't bow out so much.
- And they introduce a random genius and additional character.
- Gee, I wonder if they're going to investigate a "slingshot maneuver". Wait, some time passed and I guess I didn't even notice what the dude was working on..
- Did they really have to add the "do you believe in god?" in there?
- .. "Calculations Correct".. lol!
- "Project Elrond" sounded more like "Project L. Ron" to me.
-
Well of course there's a slingshot! In the exact manner I thought. I wondered if their original crew could turn around, but picking up more supplies is an interesting idea.
- I wouldn't have thought they'd need more supplies anyways, but whatever.
- I hope that he's extra-rationing so that in the last weeks he can eat more and come out of fasting for the extra strength he'd need. But seriously, he's surviving on potatoes?
- Dude does a space walk to work with the docking supplies, and I think to myself "aww, hes' gonna die". But he didn't. Aww.
- "7 months later", sigh.
- How the fuck would he have the water to shower?
- Capt. Blondebeard is a character from the 1997 game The Curse of Monkey Island.
- 5,000 kg lighter. Which means they're expecting someone who's been fasting for how long to move that? How much time does he even have?
- This movie uses the stupidest excuse for having a lazy and inappropriate soundtrack.
- Since when would anyone be out on the streets for this? There's nothing to see. Being at home would be way better.
- The top blowing off means that whatever air resistance there would be at the higher altitudes was what was "fighting" the pod's ascent.
- Yay, they thought about using their ship's atmosphere. But if they do that to slow down, wouldn't they be pointed dangerously.. at the pod, possibly shotgunning stuff to him.
- The dude is on a space walk without an EVA jetpack thing? It's established that they do have those, but they didn't get one out there ahead of time to help the guy if there was something wrong.
- So they're tangled in all manner of tether and being pulled in? How does that work?
- .. and then they all died on the way home. The end.
-
.. and then they all died because they didn't have the fuel for deceleration correction. The end.
