Works ∞
-
WISH CD-Writer (tested in late 2003)
- Simple and a bit ugly but it "works".
not tested ∞
-
grafburn is in the PCLinuxOS repository.
- Made for Puppy Linux / Grafpup, by Nathan F
-
[?] Pburn
- Puppy Linux switched from grafburn to Pburn.
- I don't quite understand what this is. It's not for authoring. Maybe it's just for ripping..
-
- KDE dependency
-
- was: eclipt.uni-klu.ac.at/eroaster.php
- Mandrake 9.0 Walkthrough
tested, and fails ∞
-
[?] SimpleCDR/SimpleCDR-X (tested in late 2003)
- gone?: ogre.rocky-road.net/cdr.shtml
- fail: dependancy: - some sort of vorbis thing
- Low dependancies, and an easy compile. Cannot "make" because it's relying on some vorbis tools which I can't fathom to get working.
- It's too bad the author thinks that a webpage with a black background is useful.
-
Gnome Toaster (tested in late 2003)
- fail: doesn't compile, with no obvious reason.. and I'm not going to screw with it.
-
gcombust (tested in late 2003)
- fail: clumsy UI
- requires GTK+. Ugly homepage once again, but far less ugly than SimpleCDR-X was. Easy to compile.. and it actually installs. This is reportedly capable of burning DVDs
-
Magma (tested in late 2003)
- fail: incomplete for my needs
- requires mpg123 for burning audio disks
- Damn, this looks really sweet. A little script frontend.. with colour! =) Too bad it doesn't have file browser-type functions.. hrm. I probably shouldn't care, but it's annoying to have to learn to make cue files or whatever.
-
cdw (tested in late 2003)
- fail: clumsy UI
- Webpage is frames-based. ncurses-based (console). Again, this looks nice, although as per usual it's interface is clobbered by my font preferences.
-
burncenter (tested in late 2003)
- fail: incomplete - I want a file selecting UI.
- perl, console. I didn't like it much anyway
won't test ∞
-
- Commercial software
-
- not maintained since 1999
-
[?] cdrecord
- was www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/glone/employees/joerg.schilling/private/cdrecord.html
-
- might be a requirement for other things, but it's not what I'm looking for on it's own
-
- Java applet, used to allow clients on a network to use a burner on another machine.
-
- console, perl - still alpha/beta, and has not released a file since mid-2004. Frontend to mkisofs/cdrecord.
-
- Project has gone quiet. Not updated since 2003.
- KDE dependency
