Dodged a bullet ∞
He went somewhat insane, and never made good on any efforts for remastering his old content.
Cancelled ∞
I cancelled my Patreon subscriptions to Thunderf00t because I was never given credit in any of his videos. Even after multiple chances including a direct email which was responded to, no video thereafter was corrected.
I signed on right away, before the very first video, in order to participate in every single one of his videos right from the beginning. That's no longer possible, so I give up. Maybe if he gets his shit together I can care again.
On being a patron ∞
So I've decided to become a patron.

This is a concept which I respect highly.
I was the ninth person to pledge $20 a video to have Thunderf00t create significantly higher quality videos.
I am very strongly an archivist. My strongest desires include:
- Ensuring that existing content remains accessible. I'm anti-deletionist.
- Updating existing content with corrections and improvements.
-
Expiring revised content, but maintaining its accessibility in archives.
Beyond those basics, I'm interested in..
-
A digitally-remastered WDPLAC (Why Do People Laugh At Creationists) series.
- This is something he's interested in doing if he reaches the initial $1,000/video goal.
- A digital download of WDPLAC as DVD ISOs.
- A digital download of WDPLAC as videos of varying quality.
- A digital download of WDPLAC's individual episodes as full-quality, and the original clips. If he gets hit by a bus, the series
- An on-DVD purchase option, even if on a DVD-R.
- A data-on-DVD purchase option, even if on a DVD-R.
- A rewrite of WDPLAC with script and source improvements and also post-release corrections.
- A thorough explanation of the scientific method.
- A primer on journals, including how to judge if a journal is any good.
- A thorough explanation of testing, including clinical trials.
- A thorough explanation of the idea of citing sources.
- A beginner's tutorial on checking sources. For a basic true/false check for a claim.
- A more advanced tutorial on checking sources. For people with a stronger desire to understand something cited.
- A basic tutorial to check a person's professional credentials.
- A tutorial on obtaining a PhD thesis.
- Recommendations for free online material - blogs, videos, science journals.
- News recommendations for both popular science and in-depth cutting edge stuff (journals?).
-
"Simple videos" are extremely focused, five minutes at most, have a description with a table of contents of time links, and include a link to view all sources (since the YouTube description field won't hold much data). I would also highly recommend using a proper commenting system/forum and not YouTube.
.. and probably more stuff. I'll update this page with future thoughts.
Having made that list, I do feel it's very important to not restrict an artist with demands. The entire concept of patronage is to free an artist, not hire them.

Added an old reminder comment I made.
