The web browser as a graphical user interface for Ruby applications.
While it's real, it's not in heavy development and is still alpha as of June 2006.
- 2004-09-03 - 0.0.11 on (distribution not recorded), (ruby version not recorded)
-
2007-09-08 - 0.2.0 on (distribution not recorded), (ruby version not recorded)
2008-07 - Is this project dead? ∞
There does not appear to be a public communication point. No mailing lists, forums or whatnot. There is nothing in the sourceforge or rubyforge fora. The last release was June 4, 2005.
So from all research, this project appears to have been stillborn. =(

# require "ev/rwd" require 'rubygems' require_gem 'rubywebdialogs' class Helloworld < RWDialog end SAFE = 2 Helloworld.file("helloworld.rwd").serve
ruby helloworld.rbw

This is a known issue with no workaround.

I've tinkered with this and can say that it's "real", but isn't ready for novice use. I can't wrap my brain around the simple stuff enough to do anything on my own. The documentation is geared towards seasoned programmers.
Although I think I figured out "installation", I have no idea how to write an application or even get their 'hello world' to work on my own. This is certainly not the fault of the developers.
2006-09-04 - Ok, this thing still doesn't seem to want to work. Hrmph.
ruby helloworld.rbw
helloworld.rbw:1:in `require': no such file to load -- ev/rwd (LoadError) from helloworld.rbw:1
--
ruby -r 'ev/rwd' -e 'RWDialog.new("<window name=main title=HW><p>Hello World!</p></window>").serve'
ruby: no such file to load -- ev/rwd (LoadError)
