Active promotion ∞
Visit sites which are similar to yours, and read them for your own benefit. But also see if you can get them to link to you. If it's a forum maybe your profile or footer can have a link. If you can comment, maybe you can add a link there. Don't overdo it though!

Research using social bookmarking as a kind of changeblog. Post a new pages on those sites to promote new articles of worth.
