Addons which I’ve tried ∞

• RaidSummon /rsm

  • For queuing people for warlock-summons.
  • /rsm addkeyword summon
  • alt-left-drag to move it
  • right-click to cast in the queue
  • I don’t know how to hide the frame and link it with a macro/hotkey instead. I wish they would take that feature from ControlFreak.

• MBB/MiniMap Button Bag — can store all minimap buttons in one frame.

  • https://legacy.curseforge.com/wow/addons/minimap-button-frame/issues/1 [ 1 ] — but I want to be able to show/hide it. (2024-10-12 – it was fixed)

• Omnibus [ 2 ]

  • A notepad
  • It’s easier for me to alt-tab and use a real editor. But this editor allows you to execute scripts. Neat.
  • Maybe use something like Super Duper Macro or _DevPad.

• Decursive

  • A dispel helper.
  • Not useful for me because I can easily use the existing party/raid frames.

• Auto Combat Log

  • For combat logging
  • (Ace) Loggerhead — But this one asks you for EVERY ZONE and it doesn’t seem to be configurable. Sigh.
  • I have some other addon which can do this too, I think.
  • WowWebStats is used by the guild for parsing the data.
  • Not used by my current guild.

• Aloft

  • Nameplate customization

• Target Range

  • Shows the distance to your target.
  • /trange and /trange o
  • Very useful for kiting and such, when it might be challenging to know based on your spell bar highlighting.
  • Completely worthless since it doesn’t give a proper breakdown.. it just hops huge ranges.

• WRUGS Anti-Spam

  • Whisper whitelisting.
  • /wrugs
  • Hasn’t been updated in a while, probably won’t do LFG spam.

• Guild Event Manager

  • forum)
  • /gem help and /gem toggle (UI)
  • Note that while it is available on curse that site seems to not be updated by the author.
  • You must be on one of the default channels for a moment.
    — /join LocalDefense then /leave it.
  • bug: making an event, I cannot simply change the date/time, I have to reset it all over again from default.
  • making an event: I want to see a 12-hour clock

• gfxToggle 2

  • Hotkey or automatically toggle video settings when in a certain zone. Helps for laggers in cities etc.

• Healbot (Continued)

  • Healer assister
  • /hb
  • Tested 2.3.3.11 / March 13, 2008
  • I don’t know how to hide the HealBot window. Even disabling the addon (within its config) doesn’t work..

• backup to Healbot?: (Ace) DorjeHealingBars (Dorje’s Healing Bars)

  • Show various healing targets.
  • /dhb, /dhb testrun
  • Didn’t seem all that hot. I mean, if someone doesn’t focus on what they’re healing then this thing will be completely fooled. =/

• GatherMate (etc)

  • For Herbalism/Mining, with routes support.
  • /gathermate
  • also uses GatherHud and Routes
  • I don’t use GatherHud, I prefer to have it shown on my minimap and only when tracking. But it’s just not right. I don’t need to be notified when there’s a possibility of a spawn but nothing to gather right now. It’s too spammy.

• (Ace) GemHelper
• (Ace) JewelTips

• GemList

  • Lets people whisper you to learn what gems you have on you.

• Forecast

  • Shows incoming spells on targets, but only if everyone uses this extension.

• (Ace) MobMitigation

  • Calculates and displays enemy spell and melee damage mitigation.

• Voice Commander

  • Used to voice-command a second computer so you can multiplay. THIS IS LEGAL. I asked a GM about it.

• Titan Panel

  • Not really my thing.

• (Ace) NabuFiveSec

  • Display seconds remaining until the 5 second rule for mana regen.
  • Nice idea, but fails because it’s visible when not counting.

• (Ace) MouseLook

  • No more holding the right mouse button to look around. Very smart AddOn.
  • /mouselook
  • If you suddenly lose the ability to look anywhere at all.. then .. reinstall?
  • Locks up and is generally misbehaving. I give up.

Which I haven’t used ∞

• ForgottenChat

  • Splits up chats into multiple panes.
  • This would be WONDERFUL if it had a new maintainer.

• Whiteboard

  • Could be very cool, but I just don’t see its use right now. What I really want is a web browser built into WoW. =) Maybe someone can port Links somehow? ;)

• ChatSounds

  • Would be very cool to set up to play better sounds on whispers.

• EasyLanguage

  • Lets you chat with your racial language. Or, as Blizzard calls them, “laguages”. =)
