A text editor / notes management thing.
While pretty awesome, it's really really not for me because of some fundamental ways it thinks about data. I'll continue to use Geany with a bunch of text files.

God damn it took me a while to even figure out that it had Windows support:
- Web search "QOwnNotes windows"
- Visit https://github.com/pbek/QOwnNotes
- In-page search for "windows"
- Visit https://www.qownnotes.org/
- Visit https://www.qownnotes.org/installation/
- In-page search for "windows"
- Visit https://www.qownnotes.org/installation/windows.html
- Read.
-
Visit https://github.com/pbek/QOwnNotes/releases
- The issues tab wasn't visible at the top row of links. I guess Microsoft are fucking idiots.
-
In-page search for "windows"
- I didn't find anything
- Download QOwnNotes.zip
- Unpack
-
Find
QOwnNotes.exe
and run it
Fuck that was a misadventure. Do I care to lodge an issue to get that workflow fixed? Bah.

During the welcome process, it asks me about layout, but it presents a tiny screenshot. I need something very large which also has numbers for each panel, and an explanation.
- That functionality would also need to be duplicated within the program's setup itself, and not just in the welcome rundown.
- I chose the default "minimal"
- "Search or create note" does not let me create a note.
- It creates
.md
text files, but I want them to be.markdown
- It fucking automatically dumps an additional list line when I press
enter
. I hate that. -
Note > Settings
- Why is "Settings" a "Note" ?
-
Undo is
control-z
andshift-control-z
- But if you switch notes, it'll discard the undo history.
-
Automatically saves.
- While configurable, it can't be turned off, and it can't go above 999 seconds.
-
TODO - git support on Windows
Confirm:
- enable embedded html
-
hotkey the preview, and make it wide.
Configuration ∞
- Minimal layout
-
Window > Panels > Show Note preview panel
Setup:
Note > Settings

Note Folders
- [x] Use git to keep a local history of your notes
-- Gives me an error. I guess I have to look up how to get git integration.
