was apple.com/ios/ios-15
An iPhone operating system / operating environment.
I had it for a day and didn't particularly like it. Maybe it would have grown on me, but I ended up immediately upgrading to iOS 16.
- 2022-11-01 - Replaced by iOS 16
-
2022-10-31 - 15.4, 15.7.1 on an iPhone SE 3
- See also Brave 1.44.1 (22.10.25.19) notes
2022-10-31 - 15.4, 15.7.1 ∞
- I can't download their book.
-
There is no manual included
- Their tiny piece of paper says to go to https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone
-- What if I don't have an internet connection? - It says I can download it from https://books.apple.com/book/id6443146864
-- That requires an Apple ID.

-
I can't set it up without an internet connection.

- If I try to do things manually, it still requires a PC with iTunes (and internet).
- The screen locks too quickly (1 minute).
- I miss the unlock strokes of Android; I don't like numbers. (No I won't use a fingerprint)
- The home screen is cluttered as fuck. There are three pages, all of which are cluttered as fuck.
- Half the time I don't know to tap or press the home button.
-
I skipped all kinds of shit when setting up, but I need to go to the Apple Store to view the manual and apparently the Apple Store requires an Apple ID.. but I don't know how to set that up.

-- https://appleid.apple.com/account - I couldn't make an Apple ID via the web form. I suspect I found a bug where it thinks the phone number is invalid but it's because the password given is too long.
- I found a way to make an Apple ID with the Apple Store on the phone itself. However it had a limitation of a 32 character password and required payment information.
-- Why would it require payment information if I never intend to pay money?

- 1803 pages of manual..
- I like the zoomed-in mode a lot; likely because the device is smaller than my daily driver.
-
The screen suddenly went dim and never recovered, and yet there doesn't seem to be automatic brightness control.
- I would later go looking, and yes it's turned on; it just doesn't work.
- Thankfully I read through some tips, otherwise I wouldn't have known to
double-click
home to switch between apps. - Damn I miss Android's swipes; it's so much easier to navigate that way.
Long-click
to move a home icon makes everything wobble in a disconcerting way.- I updated from iOS 15.4 to 15.7.1; it was straightforward.
- There are various circumstances where when I go to another tab/page it doesn't start at the top of the new content; I have to scroll to see stuff hidden above the top of the screen. This has caught me multiple times.
- I can't use grouped icons in the bottom row. They must be created on Home and then dragged down. Then additional items can be dragged into a group at the bottom row. Strange.
- I can't move Home screen icons anywhere I want; they are always appended into one lump.
-
If I
click and hold
in a text box to get the magnifier, and I'm at the top of the screen, I can't see the magnified text; it's chopped-off.
Well shit, apparently iOS 16 out..

Maybe I needed to have the phone plugged in and charging to get that option, or I simply overlooked it!
- Home screen widgets are fucking stupid.. they're so hard to get to the right size and place. Some aren't compatible with the size I want.
-
"Messages" has an exclamation point, and I can't figure out why; it's empty.
- Settings > Messages and turn iMessage off.
-
Settings > Messages has a place for me to tap and enter a password, but tapping does nothing. I had to tap my username to have it try to log in.
