A video listing website.

Unfortunately, and as far as I can tell, every video streaming website they list has a maximum of 480p quality. It's passable for basic reviews and in lieu of a for-pay streaming service, but one must remember that hard-media purchases give not just proper quality but bonus features like commentaries.

While there are other such services, this one seems reasonably complete and has an active userbase. If you know of a better or supplementary service, please contact me.

Geany logo

Chocolatey: geany

Geany is a GTK2 (GUI) text editor which is light and featureful. Here is a sampling of features from their about page:

  • Syntax highlighting
  • Code folding
  • Symbol name auto-completion
  • Construct completion/snippets
  • Auto-closing of XML and HTML tags
  • Call tips

This is a editor that does such magical things as use control up/down to skip paragraphs. I love it for in-page bookmarking, code folding, search-replace, escaped-replaces and regular expressions for selections, documents and groups of documents.

  • The package geany-plugins is important..
  • I also (sometimes) use Leafpad.

So I've been working on my Compiled Website, and doing some more complex stuff like working with blocks of text to turn them into lists or <pre> blocks.  Then I decided to be self-abusing and rewrite some code that dealt with HTMLizing plain text URLs.  Hey, i can do that with a regular expression!  Oh hell..

Regular expressions are a nightmare at best.  The problem is ever-worsened the longer the expression needs to become.
