A super-secret military robot suit appears in a part-time mechanic's truck, and he fiddles with it enough to get trapped in it. Wanting to visit his soon to be ex-girlfriend, he wrecks a path of havoc while being chased by people trying to retrieve or destroy it.

This movie was a major inspiration for the ground-gliding for Ember.

After a disaster, a pleasure theme park re-opens with a new population of robots.

Although this one has held up well, it does show its age. It's still spectacularly well-made, and especially well-written.

Nothing could possibly go wrong in an amusement park populated by robots.

A good-ish movie, which must have been spectacular at the time because of its original themes and spectacular presentation. It holds up very well over the few centuries since its release.

Artificial intelligence is created, but they forgot to Send a philosopher, so things go to shit somehow there are survivors.

It borrows from various other things, but doesn't execute anything very well. It just comes off as being badly written. I should have guessed based on the production company's amateur-night page.

A girl is digitized, becoming a valuable commodity for people seeking power and immortality.

This might be interesting for fans of science fiction history, but it's dumb in too many places for me to enjoy it.

If you end up watching this, here are my edited Andromedia subtitles.

An anti-robot cop investigates the death of the father of contemporary artificial intelligence-enabled robots.

A great movie through and through. Highly recommended and a welcome addition to my science fiction movie catalog.

Almost Human - (2013 TV show) image

A buddy cop show with an android, set in the near future.

It's great all around, especially the acting from the lead characters. Once the initial interest wears off, it lacks the good writing to give it either an episodic groove or an overall story arc. It's especially poor with an arc which could last it into another season, trivially-justifying its cancellation.

Recommended only for fans of "loose" science fiction who would be interested in the robot buddy cop angle. Watch one episode, then decide. Others can give it a pass, unless they like Karl Urban, who plays a cop played by Karl Urban.

An evil scientist constructs a robot surrogate and transfers his consciousness into it to carry out his plans for global domination by kidnapping a very wealthy sheikh's son.

A watchable moderate-budget movie which somehow still falls into an 80s-cheese style. It's rare to find such a bold movie, even with it being unashamedly graphic to the point of dark comedy. I think that's why I like it.

It's worth watching once.

A mercenary group is sent to an island for training exercises, only to learn that it was being used to train military robots.

Although pretty stiff because of the lead character, this is a decent enough movie. Worth watching for science fiction fans, but not for military movie fans.
