Robotrix - (1991 movie) image

An evil scientist constructs a robot surrogate and transfers his consciousness into it to carry out his plans for global domination by kidnapping a very wealthy sheikh's son.

A watchable moderate-budget movie which somehow still falls into an 80s-cheese style. It's rare to find such a bold movie, even with it being unashamedly graphic to the point of dark comedy. I think that's why I like it.

It's worth watching once.

A mercenary group is sent to an island for training exercises, only to learn that it was being used to train military robots.

Although pretty stiff because of the lead character, this is a decent enough movie. Worth watching for science fiction fans, but not for military movie fans.

TODO - Oh god my DVD looks awful. I'm spoiled by Blu-Ray.

I'm not really sure what's going on with this movie. Something about cyborgs and a guy who is in love with one that he's trying to "resurrect".

It's an interesting watch, but probably only because it's Korean. I don't get to see a lot of foreign science fiction movies outside of the glut of Japanese anime. I sort of like it, but I tend to get confused in a couple of places. It'll be recommended, but only to those of a similar mind to me.

Very good subtitles; very few were awkward for me.

To solidify its power, a planet-eater tracks down the only thing which could threaten it, the "matrix of power", a device passed down from the leaders of a race of alien robots.

This was a deeply-moving movie for me as a child, though this impression was only possible because I grew up watching the original series. Re-watching this as an adult, it didn't have anywhere near that impact.

Though I do still like it, I don't know that I can recommend it, not just because it looks "old", but because it requires so much context from the series. I think for the young these days this would look like a crappy old cartoon with decent, but old, rock music.

A man works to develop an artificial intelligence for a secret military robot soldier project.

With a dark, calm tone, this movie brushes up against all the right topics. It encourages strong empathy for artificial intelligence in a way rarely seen elsewhere, and I find it deeply moving. Very highly recommended.

A genius-recluse works on artificial intelligence, and brings in a young man to test his most recent success.

I don't know what it says about me, but I find this movie innocent, beautiful, and deeply disturbing. I honestly don't think it would be moral of me to recommend this to anyone except as a sort of cautionary tale of the inevitable.

The people of Detroit are being forcefully evicted and relocated to a corporate-owned city.

Unless you're a serious fan, just give this a pass. It doesn't really build on the franchise and it's corny.

A new wave of tailor-made drugs sweeps over Detroit, whose even bigger problem is a corporate takeover of the city.

While interesting, it's not ground-breaking like the first was.

A mortally-wounded cop is used as the foundation to build a police robot meant to be a tool for control but whose artificially-repressed memories and inerrant awesomeness surface to save the day.

This was a great movie in the day, and I'd bet I'm biased in saying it's still great.
