Two friends go on vacation, with one of them seriously ill and possibly dying, but a new illness progresses.

How do I describe this without spoiling it? I know a lot of people don't like found-footage movies, but this one is quite good as it actually shows everything.

Some bad mutants superhumans are assembled to fight others.

Basically forgettable except for Harley. Has bunches of characters nobody has heard of or cares about.

An old retired cop is reborn into a younger, stronger, version of himself, and fights crime.

Seems fairly good, though I'd bet it would be bland without the pretty girl.

To judge the Earth, aliens grant a single man the power of wishing, but he's an everyday guy and has no idea how to handle it.

A moderately good movie, with solid comedy throughout it. I only really care about it because of its subject matter and the way it handles it. Strangely, he grants himself wisdom early on but never clues into using it to give him proper understanding of it and how to use it. That's the major theme of the movie, and the source of its comedy.

Leftovers from a previous movie come back to haunt The Avengers, who tear themselves apart because they lack conflict resolution skills.

Another superzero movie. Only good if you're not just into this genre, but into this series. Other movies set in this universe must be watched to appreciate some of this one.

Batman v Superman - Dawn of Justice (2016) poster

Yet another bland superhero movie.

A privileged white nerd-boy never got his patriarchy membership card, so he sets up the most powerful being on earth by using astonishingly advanced alien technology because astonishingly advanced alien technology isn't good enough and he has to take down competitive patriarchy because something about good and god and evil and stuff.

This movie makes no fucking sense on so many levels, I may as well give it that fuckmenazi description. Characters don't make sense. Motivations don't make sense. Lots of action that didn't need to happen, or happened in the wrong way.

A character that gets whipped up out of nowhere, who only the comic book nerds will vaguely recognize.. and not even understand. Does anyone think all the little comic book nerd boys always wanted to be a woman-superhero? Uh, no. So not popular. So having no explanation, she was dropped in as a deus ex machina. A hot awesome one, but terribly-written and disruptive.

Furthermore, the appearance of The Flash (who I had to look up), made no fucking sense whatsoever. It wasn't even a deus ex machina, it was entirely unnecessary and confusing fluff.

  • Properly titled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
  • Yes, it's properly titled Batman v Superman, because American theatre-goers know neither "versus" nor "vs.".

I'll add notes when I re-watch this.

In a future Tokyo which has survived a massive explosion, a highschool student motorcycle gang stumbles into a military research program whose earlier efforts lead to that disaster, and they become embroiled in the revived project.

A genre-defining movie on so many levels. It portrays a world unique to those unfamiliar with manga (a form of Japanese comics) and has both great storytelling and incredible animation.

Deadpool (2006) poster

Dying of cancer, a dishonourably-discharged special forces soldier submits to experimentation to save his life, which was actually to enslave him and resulted in mutant powers with a scarring side effect, forcing him to hunt down his creator for both revenge and the cure.

An adequate movie on-par with the other adequate superhero movies. This has some significant laugh-out-loud moments, and with a lot of blood and cursing to make it an R-rated movie, it rides on the ho-hum samey-same superhero movie trend all the way to success.

Features nothing new or interesting in the expanded universe. In fact, involves nothing from any other movie whatsoever.

Recommended for those who are hipster for the "superhero genre" movie trend.

X-Men - Apocalypse (2016) poster

An Old One is awakened, and renews his takeover of the world.. except we already know the good guys win because this takes place in the 80s and a past movie, set in the then-future, has an intact world with all characters accounted for.

A standard superhero movie, with nothing particularly interesting. Extremely confusing given that this is a sequel to a sequel to a prequel or some shit.

I would have done a few things different, and even a few subtle changes would have made this movie a hell of a lot better.

Definitely pass on this unless you're really into this particular series.
