A day-walking vampire halts his crusade against them, forming a truce to hunt an even worse monster.

An adequate movie, with an acceptable amount of over-the-top nonsense. Definitely worth watching for fans of the original. Easily stands the test of time.

  • Properly titled Blade II

Born as the survivor of a bitten-pregnancy, a part-vampire "day walker" continues his crusade amidst one of their ranks' power play for leadership.

A classic movie, before the whole superhero genre got entirely out of hand. It's an unfortunate rewriting of the original comic book, but it does well with what it has. It's blunt and stiff, yet entertaining.

It has only a couple of moments of technology which feel old, otherwise it has held up well.

A boy turned into a horrifying soldier becomes a totally likable guy.

I believe I watched this movie already, but perhaps it faded from memory due to its mediocrity. I couldn't watch very far in before being entirely turned off at the concept of the main character.

An unaged man without a memory is sent by a secret multifaith order of monster hunters as the last hope of a lineage doomed to purgatory unless they slay the lord of all vampires.

Not a great or bad movie, but still good enough to be worth watching. It's mostly interesting because of its main character, and the rest of it is piecemeal and without particular substance.

I think this movie was my initial introduction to Kate Beckinsale, and it turns out she's a lot hotter in my memory than in this actual movie. Maybe she was better-presented in the next movies of hers that I saw after this.

Two friends go on vacation, with one of them seriously ill and possibly dying, but a new illness progresses.

How do I describe this without spoiling it? I know a lot of people don't like found-footage movies, but this one is quite good as it actually shows everything.

Vampires are real, and a secret council, whose formation is never explained, support a good-vampire on her mission to mercilessly slaughter bad-vampires in search for the worst-vampire who she was told killed her father.

For a while I was quite captivated by this movie. It was good in every respect, but it seemed to take a turn for the worse half way through, and just kept sliding. Overall it's good, but elements of it are too similar to other famous movies for me to really find it interesting, especially since those elements are rushed.

It's decent enough to recommend for a one-time watch.

An old man is surprised to learn has has 19 year old daughter, who becomes embroiled in a web of vengeance and violence set against him.

I really like this movie. It might play out as too flat for most people, but for me the character was well-crafted and acted.

Like few movies, He Never Died explores age and power at its extreme. Fans of Interview with the Vampire (film), for example, should appreciate such elements.

A mockumentary about four vampire flatmates in New Zealand.

Bad. This is supposed to be comedy. I'm not laughing. From what little I saw, I doubt it will get any better.

I'll add notes when I re-watch this series.
Do not watch this without respecting the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel viewing order.

A vampire, cursed with a soul to be immortally haunted by his past, hopes for absolution by fighting the damned.

An astonishing series. The characters and story are outstanding. While built upon/within the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe, it has a different and significantly more adult story line. I would say that this series is better than its parent, but Buffy is mandatory and still enjoyable viewing to get to this one.

Mandatory viewing.

A highschool cheerleader, learning she is imbued with the spirit of the Vampire Slayer and her school was built on a Hellmouth, is trained by an ancient order of Watchers to fight vampires and other monsters from ending the world.

An astonishing series, and I don't say that lightly. The characters and story are outstanding. While this is a fast-and-loose show, it matures. It spinoff/partner series, Angel (1999-2004) is even more adult. This show is well worth the time, even if its initial episodes put the viewer off with its childishness. It's not a series that "grows on you", it really does get better and better, building upon and maturing out of its initial impressions.

Mandatory viewing.
