RTE Preformatted text and paragraphs ∞
There’s a classic bug with the RTE.
- Create a block of preformatted text
- Press enter to begin a new paragraph
- Change the style and make regular paragraph-styled text.
-
When rendered, there is no space between the two paragraphs.
I can shift-enter to add a line and that will work sometimes, but not always. If that doesn’t work, then I can only add a . and force the period to be the thing that’s stuck to the bottom of the preformatted text. Sigh.
This issue also happens with tables. It has to do with the simplified markup being used for the ‘HTML’ view, when editing a post.
RTE Undo ∞
Somebody was asleep at the wheel with this undo functionality. It’ll undo WAY more than I want it to.
I’m not sure how to describe the “right” way, but I’ve seen this implemented better everywhere else.
It also tends to hop up to the top of the page, which is really inconvenient when editing a large document. This still ticks me off to no end.
Misc RTE Pains ∞
Pasting using the plain text paste function works as expected, but it sends the cursor to the beginning of the article.
Image Caption Issues ∞
The image caption area isn’t particularly friendly. It would be nice if I had an RTE area in the image caption editor popup (the one with the other image formatting controls).
So I have to add junk text as a caption, and then edit the caption area myself, with the proper RTE.
However, I cannot press enter or shift-enter. I have to copy-and-paste such things to get them in.
Actually, captions are mostly useless and get all mangled. I give up.
Image Caption Freezes Firefox ∞
- Add some bulleted text to your page.
- Add some extra space by pressing enter a few times.
- Insert any image in that empty space.
- Type in some random text as a caption to that image.
- Cut the bulleted text.
- Paste the bulleted text in the grey caption area under the image.
-
Firefox freezes. The CPU usage bounced up around 100%.
