macOS solutions ∞
While macOS ships with read support, it cannot write/check.
Note that it might be best to use exFAT since it has native support between Windows and Mac (and Android).

- I would normally have gone with them because I purchased their NTFS for Android.
On Linux, check for NTFS-invalid directories ∞
(on Linux)
\find . -name '*[<>:/\\|?*]*' -o -name '*[ \.]'
Also note that files and directories ending with a space are invalid.

Moving files from ext4 to NTFS was a pain when I realised that Windows choked on a number of names.
Added notes for Mac support.
