Why I take notes ∞

First, let me explain one simple fact of my beliefs. Everything is suboptimal. I believe that the goal of existence is to strive for a form of perfection, where 100% of something’s potential is unlocked and put to use.

I “complain” about everything. This does not mean I don’t “like” it. Nay, the more I complain about something is the more I have exposed myself to it. So the strength of my complaint matches the strength of my desire to improve that something.

Based on this concept, the more I may be seen to see fault and complain about something is the more I see which can be improved.. the more potential.

One thing which has become obvious to me, though, is that “complaining” alone does not necessarily bring the complainant closer to perfection. I express my opinions for two reasons.

• One is to provide a verbose list of items which, when solved, would bring the complainant closer to perfection.

• Second is to vent my anger at developer oversight.

I further will use such complaint to fix things myself, because I realize that developers don’t have all the time in the world.. and if I’ve got time to complain, then there are cases where I’ll have enough time to resolve.

I am at the stage where I yearn to learn what developers know in order to trail their projects and tidy up small oversights. I keep lists of problems as a memory aid, for myself and for others, so that these problems can be hammered away at. I keep notes as a path toward improvement. The more there is, is the more present the goal.

I have chosen to begin documenting my experiences with NetBSD. It is my hope to add my influence to the pool, to help others like myself in learning more on this subject. By documenting my mistakes and discoveries I hope to both help others avoid suffering and help others self-enlighten.

This text will be created and thereafter reviewed and revised a number of times. Once it has been completed to my satisfaction it will remain as a static story.. a snapshot in time for others to enjoy. Maintaining a resource list or a detailed account of the most recent install is not something I feel would be valuable, but it is my hope to create additional texts to trail in the wake of this one.
