Something I posted to apply to a private server.
It’s interesting enough to archive here.
We are an anti-griefing server with a whitelist. ∞
Does this mean you are light on mods? I find them rather overwhelming.
(I mean the modifications, not moderators)
Minecraft name: spiralofhope ∞
I’m bored of single-player, and want to cooperate. Whatever I do single-player doesn’t really have any purpose unless I can share.
I prefer the simplicity of wilderness and the challenge of fortification. I’m a defensive player, and nervous about spelunking. I get lost easily. I’m highly creative, but only with basic technologies. I hate massive structures ruining the wilderness and try to craft comfortably-sized structures which blend in with their surroundings.
What monster/animal is your favorite? Which do you loathe? ∞
My favourite animal is the legendary pink sheep. There’s nothing quite like rounding a corner and squinting to tell if it’s pink, or just white and you’ve been minecrafting too long. =p
Basically everything that makes a sound makes me twitch. I pen animals far away. I dig out caves and hunt monsters down. I suspend a roof so high up that I can’t hear the rain spatter on it.
Do you prefer a sword, axe, bow or your bare hands in combat? ∞
What lunatic prefers their bare hands?
Oh, me.
I prefer sand. Yes, there’s nothing as satisfying as burying something alive and hearing it suffocate to death. Mohaha.
What’s your previous experience on a server or would this be your first time on a server? ∞
It’s been quite some time. I remember when most mods were new. I was a global admin on the minecrafters.net servers when it was new. May as well consider me a grizzled old veteran who’s just a little too grizzled and old to remember everything. War stories with as much fiction as fact are the best!
What can you bring to the server? ∞
For example do you enjoy server build projects, hunting and exploring with others, showing new people around a server, setting up a shop and selling to players, helping other players with redstone, etc?
Group projects, creative problem solving, tidying, gathering.
Some of the most fun I’ve had is when a person shows me around and they pick my brain for ideas on how to use a space, how to build paths or lights, or we chat about design ideas.
Probably the coolest and most challenging design I’ve done is a hidden-lighting bridge.
No wait, I built the first Minecraft hedge maze I knew of. I re-created a very simple victorian design. Damn that was a challenge, mostly because of my getting lost while building it. Of course, since then people have done spectacular stuff.
I also made a couple of nice mineshaft concepts, including a lightwell – which provided sunlight right down to bedrock.
No Skype, I don’t do Microsoft. No Ventrilo, I value my security. I can do Mumble.
