About this page ∞
2010-05 I found a reproducible bug with the Firefox add-on Multi Links version 2.0.0.17 using Firefox 3.6.3.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100305 Unity/1.9.2-0.1 (2010) Firefox/3.6.3
Since I no longer had the link to the original content, 2010-05-14 I decided to make this page.
2011-12-29 - I switched to Snap Links Plus
Steps To Reproduce ∞
- Reboot
- Start Firefox with
firefox -safe-mode
- Select
[x] Disable all add-ons
- Click
<Make Changes and Restart>
- Go to
Tools > AddOns
, and enable Multi Links - Restart Firefox
-
Visit any extremely large page with mixed text, pictures and images. This issue is most visible the larger the tab's content is.
- The test page [removed, as I use Snap Links Plus now]
-
Click and drag your box.
Notice the long delay when drawing it.
I am unable to reproduce my original test:
-
Open a link in a new tab, in the background. For example, middle-click a thumbnail.
- Test link: Index
-
Try to scroll up and down while the tab is loading in the background.
What is seen is a horribly sticky scroll with delays of over 5 seconds. Presumably a faster computer would reduce this speed limit.
Reproduced on a 2Ghz single-core, with my CPU usage spiking to 100%. While some other software was running and using some CPU cycles, there wasn't anything notible about any other software.
Workarounds ∞
No workaround is known. However, Snap Links Plus is an alternate add-on which accomplishes the same thing.
It has been tested and works without the above issue.
