An interesting problem: How do you discuss certain hot topics while avoiding a list of words?
It’s pretty easy for me, actually.
My comment never actually appeared there, but I like what I wrote so I’ll keep it here.
baseball ∞
(game, sport, pitcher, catcher, batter)
Played in a stadium with a small ball.
lower unemployment ∞
(Job, Economy, Company, Private Sector, Money, Unemployment)
imo, bonus points for omitting taxes
Some people don’t work but want to. This is important for private independence and public wealth. Is not sustainable to maintain large societal wealth transfers to many individuals — the entire society should become wealthier instead of attempting to balance inequity.
To promote whole-society-improvement instead of inequity balance, it is important that wealth transfer occurs in such a way that promotes actually-new wealth instead of a ball-and-cup shuffling of wealth away from society at large.
The solution is to not enlarge the government — that drains societal wealth — but to instead delegate governmental duties to society.
Societal wealth improvement can be helped by preventing individuals and groups in society from both amassing wealth and removing access to it from society and promoting the more-immediate use of wealth when acquired by people.
What powers should the government have over people? ∞
(government, law, regulations, rules, rights)
Society is not homogeneous. There are different people with different likes, dislikes, skills, interests, values, etc. Some people will delegate responsibility to others. In some cases, many people will delegate certain responsibilities to a few.
In today’s society, there are many responsibilities which are not only universally delegated to a minority but they are non-optional. Also, there is no freedom from this delegation — no competition is tolerated — and it is enforced with violence.
This mandatory-delegation is not consistent either. Some parts of some delegation are delegated differently or inconsistently in some cases or for some individuals. Wealth is large a component of this, but so are social preferences and either luck or just randomness.
Even if the mandatory-delegation were consistently applied and applied to all people equally, the fact that there is mandatory-delegation and that there is so much of it remains a problem. Since individuals do not universally agree with all the existing delegation, it becomes important to shrink the amount so that what remains is as palatable as possible.
A complete moratorium on the idea of mandatory-delegation of responsibilities should also be seriously considered. To this end, it is important to allow the creation of competition to the existing mandatory-delegation. For most delegation, nothing special needs to be done but to just allow it. However, for some delegation there may be a need for either public wealth transfer to fund the creation of competition or cooperative efforts between the existing delegation services and future competitors.

How can we stop crime?
(crime)
Happiness is an individual goal and so it should be a societal goal. The challenge is when an individual’s pursuit of their happiness effects the happiness of others. Some pursuits have direct an impact as to make another very unhappy.
Assuming a variety of individuals with their variety of different pursuits for happiness, it is impossible to hope that no individual will negatively impact on the happiness of another. However, it is extremely important that intent be examined. An individual intending to reduce the happiness of another should be prevented. This prevention is itself a reduction of societal happiness. It becomes important for prevention to scale with the severity of the impact on happiness.
For example, death is the most severe impact on an individual’s happiness. So intentional killing must be prevented even at the cost of removing either a variety of freedoms or things in their periphery.

Discussing copyright ∞
(copyright, monopoly, pirate, theft, entertainment industry, law)
In the interests of society, invention is thought to be promoted by granting a limited-term monopoly on those inventions. This notion has extended not just to an invention such as a technology or discovery but to innovation and unique products.
To maximize profits, a business wants to not just have a competitive advantage over others but to control the underlying tools, technologies, etc in their industry and related industries. This control lets them “slow down” market progress and adapt to changes more easily.

.. oh hell, I used monopoly, this one’s hard.
Discuss age of consent laws/child protection/etc ∞
(rape, abuse, molestation, sick fuck, consent)
While happiness is seen in all people of all ages – even the very young – the young are uniquely challenged because of their under-development. They lack the life-experience, language, planning skills etc to understand many situations.
A sexual situation is complex, and presents especially-difficult challenges to the very young. Aside from lacking knowledge of something simple like the basics of intercourse, they lack an understanding of STDs, pregnancy and so much more that most view any such interactions as inappropriate.
It isn’t that the any particular youth can simply be taught such missing knowledge, but they have fundamental and biological limitations. Certain kinds of emotional and mental capabilities can be experimentally demonstrated to reliably not exist until certain age ranges.
Different societies disagree on what age is considered biologically mature enough to lift a ban on sexual activities. Also, some societies have a minimum age range separating partners, some have a hard line between ages where any below are unregulated.
.. another challenging topic.
