All tests were likely on Linux.

It’s indeed necessary. I don’t know how long it’s been the case.

This really isn’t needed anymore. The close button is only shown on the currently-visible tab, which is great.
Except if I don’t have many tabs, then the duplicate close button is seen. Bah.

props to https://ffextensionguru.wordpress.com/2006/10/22/firefox-20-close-tab-buttons/
- Visit
about:config - Filter for
browser.tabs.closeButtons - Change it to
3 -
(the change is immediately visible)
- 0 – Display a close button on the active tab only
- 1 – Display a close button on each tab (default)
- 2 – Don’t display any close buttons
-
3 – Display a single close button at the end of the tab bar (Firefox 1.x behavior)
But really, what would be cool is if the active tab was a larger width, and had its own duplicate close button.
