An amino acid.
Uses ∞
The main use of glutamine within the diet of either group is as a means of replenishing the body's supply of amino acids that have been used during exercise or everyday activities. This suggests that it's better after a workout and not before, as my sources had mentioned. However, perhaps it's better taken before a workout:
Glutamine is important for removing excess ammonia (a common waste product in the body). In the process of picking up ammonia, glutamine donates it when needed to make other amino acids, as well as sugar, and the antioxidant glutathione. Known for its abilities to support protein synthesis, muscle cell hydration, and immune function while limiting muscle catabolism and sparing glycogen.
It might help with Irritable bowel syndrome
