s02e01 – 1998-06-26 – The Serpent’s Lair (3) ∞
Spoiler
- 6:45 — Oh come on, they’re not going to bring him back from the dead are they?
- 9:45 — Why would they need to enter orbit?
- 11:15 — Why is Jackson wearing glasses again?
- 21:00 — “From your mouth to god’s ears” is relates what they say to prayer, which, since prayer is bullshit, is saying the person is thinking wishfully.
- 26:00 — He’s like the Spanish fencing instructor I always wanted.
- 35:30 — Since he didn’t have the code to get into Earth, I assume Jackson went somewhere else.
- 40:00 — So what is that thing on his arm, anyway? Is that a holdster for a weapon?
- 40:15 — Oh, it is.
-
40:45 — “Space monkey” (Monkeys and apes in space)
I hope alpha site is developed, and it also has its own iris.
s02e02 – 1998-07-03 – In the Line of Duty ∞
Spoiler
- 0:40 — Small arms fire versus armoured gliders.
- 1:00 — One day, a glider has to zip through a gate.
- 1:40 — If only there were people on the other side of the gate who could come through to get others. Maybe it’s just safer to have the gate treated as one-way. You wouldn’t want to cross the streams (Ghostbusters – (1984 movie)).. or at least have people flung into one another near the entrance of either side.
- 2:15 — Quarantine. It’s like concrete for germs.
- 4:30 — The Gould have been demonstrated to be enemies at some levels, but it could be revenge.
- 5:15 — “Know Your Enemy” – The Art of War, by Sun Tzu.
- 5:30 — I’d have a significant secure-facility around the base for refugee and medical situations.
- 5:45 — There are three new stargate teams, SG-10, 11 and 12.
- 8:00 — I hope Cassandra isn’t a recurring character.
- 9:00 — Is she dead is she dead?
- 9:30 — Damn. How’d she get away?
- 12:00 — If only the dude used a zat gun and not a dart gun.
- 12:00 — Grenades take time to explode, perhaps kick it into the gate like it’s a net. Not turn it on necessarily, but there is room back there, and some cover to be had. The gate wouldn’t be damaged, but their equipment would need replacing. It would be worth it to save some lives. Not hers, of course, but lives nontheless.
- 14:15 — A device of destruction, would presumably be smuggled in with one of the bodies of a refugee.
- 17:00 — Interrogation, Arrogance, Pride, Hubris
- 17:15 — This would, of course, be one of those situations where a skilled person would be useful.
- 35:15 — That’s a Gould. Tell me you’re going to restrain it.
- 37:30 — Did he just kill that guy? Asshole.
- 39:15 — Daniel should be allergic to all those flowers. That would have been funny.
-
41:00 — Samantha should have apologized for threatening Cassandra’s life.
So the Gould which possessed her and decomposed in her brain should have left behind advanced knowledge. Or rewired her to make her smarter. Or something.
s02e03 – 1998-07-10 – Prisoners ∞
Spoiler
- 1:30 — Why would Jack take the threat so lightly? This is the first native he’s seen, and he’s already a properly-suspicious guy.
- 6:45 — Rape is bad.
- 8:15 — Botany Bay, Australia
- 10:15 — Has O’Neil been in prison?
- 10:30 — Sending another SG team through to their original destination would have that team captured too.
- 14:00 — SG-9 has diplomatic training.
- 15:00 — Cold fusion
- 17:00 — Jaywalking
- 17:30 — O’Neil has been in prison.
- 30:15 — That “You actually won a fight, Danny Boy” might be related to Danny Boy, by Frederic Weatherly.
-
35:00 — Yeah, why bother rescuing everyone, all of whom are either convicted of stupid crimes of desperation, passion or need mental care?
- Also, I’ve been wondering if the woman is a Goul.
- 41:15 — Introduction of the new season-enemy.
s02e04 – 1998-07-17 – The Gamekeeper ∞
Spoiler
- 0:30 — Looks like a job for SG-9.
- 2:00 — They’re in an extended-life hibernation and their brains are hooked into a cyberspace.
- 4:00 — Called it.
- 7:15 — “The Gould have experimented with time manipulation for years.”
- 8:00 — Tylk has no formal military training and would stick out like a sore thumb. An argument can be made that he received some training or picked things up while doing the stargate-work, but this particular situation and the way he’s acting don’t seem right together.
- 11:00 — See also Groundhog Day – (1993 movie)
- 16:00 — The Keeper, like a warden?
- 18:30 — Like some kind of cyberspace.
- 20:30 — Virtual reality? Called it.
- 28:30 — Well if it’s so awesome out there, then how did new people get in here?
- 29:00 — Warden? Called it.
- 30:00 — No, they’re not out. It’s still a simulation.
- 31:00 — Go back. Force them to be free.
- 32:00 — They didn’t get out. They were kicked out. But since they’re still in, the keeper wants them to be “willingly” in.
- 34:15 — If I’m not mistaken, this is an example of speaking to someone.
-
40:15 — He showed her how to operate it, and gave her the address to Earth. Did he explain the communications device they use to send the coded message to get back? Because if not they’ll commit suicide when they come by for a visit.
- Also, that’s the longest distance I’ve seen between a DHD and a gate.
- 41:00 — I like Dwight Schultz. He’s so damned versatile.
s02e05 – 1998-07-24 – Need ∞
Spoiler
- 1:45 — Bad guy not bad guy.
- 4:00 — Cartilage, Anterior cruciate ligament (Anterior cruciate ligament injury)
- 6:15 — I wondered about her getting magic powers.
- 6:45 — I bet those aren’t working staves.
- 7:00 — “Hi ho, hi ho” I recognize from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937 film).
- 8:00 — Oh, that staff was real.
- 13:15 — Actually. We’ll be freeing the slaves and stealing your
aqueductnaquida. - 14:00 — It’s not really cheating if your wife is a Gould, right? I mean technically she cheated on you first. Sortof.
-
20:45 — Are there side-effects to using the sarcophagus repeatedly, so soon? Maybe he can have his eyes fixed. He’s a good looking guy without his glasses. Wait, I think I just called him ugly.
- Also, I was trying to not imagine two people shagging in it, but I failed. Two people should do so.
- 22:30 — Called it.
- 26:15 — So the sarcophagus is what drives the Gould mad.
- 27:15 — “Dark side” is a reference to Star Wars – (1977 movie) and being bad.
- 28:30 — That jerky sarcophagus closing is so odd.
- 29:15 — Uh, to make up for it, can we have some naquida?
- 29:30 — I’d be keeping Daniel to detox him. Unless that becomes life-threatening, which it will, of course.
- 29:45 — Oh, they did get some naquida. Called it, sortof.
- 34:30 — He’s gone mad. Whatever has been done to him is taking control and stabilized his functions. He’s going to break out and go back.
-
36:30 — One of them is trained, and the other is Daniel. Demonstrate his super-strength or quit fucking around.
- Also, somewhat called it.
- 36:45 — Jack has been addicted.
- 37:15 — It’s been more than 30 seconds. Where are the guards?
-
38:00 — Cement.
- .. though their solution is good too.
- 40:15 — I thought she never used the sarcophagus.
- 40:45 — No. No. No shooting of the sarcophagus. We’ll be taking that back with us.
- 41:00 — Dammit.
s02e06 – 1998-07-31 – Thor’s Chariot ∞
Spoiler
- 1:00 — Iridium
- 1:30 — Thor, Asgard
- 3:00 — So how did they open the gate from their end? Did they know how?
- 4:00 — Ettin (Jötunn)
- 5:30 — Well after standing there like idiots, it’s a good thing there are no hostiles around.
- 6:45 — Norse mythology, Ragnarök
- 9:00 — Why not gun them down as they run the wrong way?
- 19:00 — Her-ur (Horus the Elder), the child of Ra and Hathor
- 20:30 — It’s a myth. How can they be taken there?
-
23:45 — Acrophobia
- Also, what’s the problem with the beam. Straddle it and scooch over slowly.
- 24:30 — Was that The Goonies – (1985 movie) -esque trial supposed to be re-usable?
- 26:00 — It’s trivial to scooch across.
- 27:00 — Re-usable. Called it.
- 27:30 — I also figured that would be another transporter, but that seemed to easy to call.
- 29:00 — Staff weapons for everyone.
- 30:30 — Old Norse, Ideogram
- 34:45 — Grey alien (Roswell UFO incident)
- 39:00 — A good day to die
- 41:00 — Also, the Asgardian teacher is there to keep an eye on things.
s02e07 – 1998-08-07 – Message in a Bottle ∞
Spoiler
- 2:00 — Time capsule, Booby trap
- 6:00 — Text too small for the human eye on a surface of that size may well be well over a thousand pages of text.
- 8:30 — And of course they have rad suits and all the other appropriate gear on hand, right?
- 13:00 — Carve its various spikes out of the concrete.
- 16:15 — Necrotizing fasciitis
- 17:00 — Ultraviolet
- 18:45 — But if the dude gets overrun, he or his corpse could be a far greater threat.
- 23:30 — I wonder if it’s infecting people so that it can rewire them for some other purpose.
- 24:00 — Instant-crush is fucking stupid.
- 25:00 — If it’s getting at the computers, then all their security-related things need to be free up. Every door would need to be made somehow manual. Also, electricity will become an issue.
s02e08 – 1998-08-14 – Family ∞
Spoiler
- 0:45 — Opening the iris kind of late.
- 3:45 — “In knowing a trap we can avoid it.” .. no, no you can’t. They know you know it’s a trap. Everyone knows its trapishness.
- 4:00 — Wouldn’t the stargate there be.. the trap?
- 4:45 — Oh. I guess they thought of that.
- 12:00 — Love? Naw. Hypergamy.
-
12:45 — I’d have one plan in mind, to tell the husband, but execute another under the assumption that the plan was being leaked through the husband.
- Something as simple as executing much sooner might foil the trap.
- 14:15 — I would definitely not go back to the ex. She set it up as payment for her new life. Hypergamous backstabbing.
- 15:15 — No, he’s not just a child. A year ago he was scheduled to be a worm-incubator. Why wouldn’t he still be one? This isn’t brainwashing at all.
- 21:00 — Why would the dude be surprised in the least?
- 23:30 — Well at least you get to keep his stuff. Marrying the short-lived rich sure has its perks.
- 25:45 — I suppose going directly would be a good thing, but a long-run solution of working on an insurrection might also work.. although an additional Gould is probably on its way.
- 28:15 — I saw that rock get nudged.
- 28:30 — I’m expecting a trap with guys popping up out of the sand.
- 30:45 — I wonder if she can be trusted. I assume she’s been checked out just as thoroughly as the son.
- 33:00 — Anthrax, Common cold
- 36:00 — Do I really have to sit through this?
- 37:00 — Electroconvulsive therapy (Shock therapy (psychiatry)). No. That’s not the answer.
- 37:15 — They could get a spare symbiote. I guess they don’t have one. Like the sarcophagus, they seem to be bad at getting and keeping those.
- 39:30 — Oh god, make it stop.
s02e09 – 1998-08-21 – Secrets ∞
Spoiler
- 1:15 — They’ve known about Daniel’s date for a year. Couldn’t they have figured their other scheduling out?
-
2:30 — Wow, they used the actual actor from Stargate – (1994 movie)!
- He looks wrong, though. As though the aspect ratio on all his shots is wrong. Maybe it’s his turban.
- 5:45 — Well see the thing is, she’s with child, which means that while she was the Gould she had unprotected sex. That’s rape, right? I mean, she’s mind-controlled and forced into it. So yeah. Rape. That’s bad.
- 6:45 — That’s some odd inbreeding-level of fucked up.
- 7:30 — If I arranged that, I’d have the worm in her take over the baby. Like some sort of hybridization thing.
- 9:45 — This means she can be leveraged for her knowledge.
- 10:15 — Thank you.
-
11:00 — Oh, I wasn’t thinking about how dark it would be to bring her back.
- I was just wanting to stay there and ask her bunches of stuff before fleeing the hell out of there, because if I was Apophis I wouldn’t leave her alone. In fact, how is she unguarded? Wait, how wouldn’t she be in a safe spot? I can only assume that Apophis had to go defend his system-lordishness and doesn’t exactly have the resources or ship. Or maybe he wants to keep her and her pregnancy so secret even from his own trusted people that she was able to escape.
- 13:15 — Why would they have a big ceremony for a secret project? Aren’t these medals like some sort of secret thing? Perhaps they can’t get recognition like this, because, you know, secrets and stuff.
- 18:15 — First, I knew that sounded odd for him to say, but I wrote it off since he has a hobby and background with astronomy.
- 18:30 — Being a journalist doesn’t make up for blackmail and threatening national secrets.
- 21:30 — Black bag the reporter.
- 22:30 — It’s too bad they don’t have a knockout needle.
- 22:45 — The gate is unburied now. For how long has it been unburied? I’d think they would notice.
- 24:30 — Oh, not if it’s a new systemlord’s people and this is the first time they’re there.
- 30:00 — Cancer, Lymphoma
- 31:00 — Authoritarian father.
- 32:00 — Well at least Daniel has helped birth two babies before this.
- 33:30 — Well at least the uniforms of Horus have a properly-retracting helmet.
- 35:30 — What? Getting geared up from formal attire in ten minutes? No way.
- 37:30 — Why wouldn’t he just use his staff on the guards opposite him?
- 40:00 — He has mickey mouse ears. Hehe.
s02e10 – 1998-09-25 – Bane ∞
Spoiler
- 0:30 — “Witness if you will” is from The Twilight Zone (1959-1964)
- 1:45 — It has a stinger!
- 3:00 — I’d leave the stargate open for as long as possible, to kill as many of those things as possible.
- 3:30 — Yeah, I wondered if his worm would help.
- 6:30 — DNA, Retrovirus
- 7:00 — When he is rewritten, he becomes one of those flying bugs, explaining the missing inhabitants.
- 8:30 — Haven’t they worked on rights for Tylk?
- 10:30 — Why wouldn’t he be on a stretcher?
- 13:15 — Well of course the doctor has to remain alive. Fucking plot armour.
- 18:00 — “the red phone” is a reference to the president.
- 22:00 — Why ever would they have doors closed. After all, there’s a quarantine procedure.
- 23:15 — Called it.
- 25:00 — Stranger danger.
- 36:00 — Don’t touch him.
- 40:30 — “One with increased range and firepower.” hahaha!
s02e11 – 1998-10-02 – The Tok’ra (1) ∞
Spoiler
- 1:30 — Distracting shark-jumping.
- 8:30 — Evidence? It wouldn’t take long for everything to get blown around.
-
8:45 — Yellow brick road, from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900), by L. Frank Baum
- See also The Wizard of Oz – (1939 movie)
- 10:30 — Loitering
- 13:00 — That sentence doesn’t make any sense.
- 17:00 — You could inquire after top secret clearance for him.
- 21:45 — This was already explained. The sick and injured, the dying and old, would find a symbiotic relationship agreeable.
- 22:30 — Faust
- 32:00 — Schizophrenia
s02e12 – 1998-10-09 – The Tok’ra (2) ∞
Spoiler
- 3:45 — Tylk could be a host, technically.
- 11:30 — Give him clearance, called it.
- 13:30 — At least give the man a wheelchair.
- 35:00 — Arthritis
- 36:00 — Another thing humanity could offer is the ability to use any technology. Humans wouldn’t have any restrictions in trying to appear as Gould.
- 36:20 — Oh, disappearing rings, that’s new.
- 36:30 — How come the enemy dials so slow?
- 39:30 — So basically token-girl there has every love story affixed to her character.
- 41:00 — The expression is older than Don’t Call Us, We’ll Call You (1975), by Sugarloaf
s02e13 – 1998-10-23 – Spirits ∞
Spoiler
- 1:00 — Low-tech populations could be dangerous. More so than higher-tech populations.
- 2:00 — Called it.
- 3:15 — It pierced his arm. It didn’t matter that the glass slowed it down.
- 4:15 — So will they be sending an extra person to fill their ranks? Or, I know, perhaps send SG-9 since they have diplomatic training.
-
7:30 — Coast Salish peoples
- The Coast Salish neither had crests, nor built totem poles.
- 33:00 — Firstly, I would have stripped the alien for the cloaking thingy it’s wearing. Then I would have shackled it. I’d also not be turning my back on them like this.
-
36:45 — Oh, so they are Salish.
So they flubbed another relationship. Explaining the whole truth, like why they’re so desperate to gain this material to avoid a mass invasion by an enemy who wants to wipe out or enslave billions of people would probably have gone a long way to developing an alliance.
“Could you spare a mountain so we can save our world?”
s02e14 – 1998-10-30 – Touchstone ∞
Spoiler
- 1:30 — Over the entire plane’s surface? That’s pretty ecologically-devastating technology.
- 1:45 — Back engineering = Reverse engineering
- 8:20 — Another SG team could have gone from their assigned world, to the touchstone world and then back to their world.
- 11:45 — A backup of a backup, that’s the proper way to do things.
- 13:00 — I bet it’s asshole-man stealing tech.
- Called it.
- 15:25 — Groom Lake (salt flat), Area 51
- 16:45 — GMC (automobile)
- 20:45 — Tylk smirked.
- 21:30 — It’s a fake.
- 22:00 — Called it.
- 27:00 — All their crops are already ruined. All the fish in every sea are probably dead. They’re fucked.
- 28:00 — There’s an iris on the other stargate. Their probe goes splat.
- 32:45 — The gate door would be locked..
-
34:00 — I guess they couldn’t bring zat guns with them since if they were captured it would be giving that technology into enemy hands. Because that would solve the shooting people problem.
- Except Tylk has one.
- 36:15 — Gunfire is heard, enemies come in and retake the stargate.
- 39:30 — Uh, so all three made it out? Where was Tylk? He was aiming right at them.
- 40:15 — Cement. Cement is the answer!
- 40:45 — Having the spare in orbit or on the moon would be freaking awesome, if that were actually possible. Using the propulsion of the two death gliders they brought back might make that possible.
s02e15 – 1999-01-22 – The Fifth Race ∞
Spoiler
- 2:30 — Obvious ring is obvious. Why was it being ignored?
- 3:30 — His consciousness is in there. The lights were the aliens. Or they read his mind.
- 5:00 — Aww, the doctor has short hair now.
- 5:15 — He’s drawing stuff he got planted in his head.
- 8:45 — He’s been taught the alien language. His brain is taking some time to figure it out.
- 11:00 — Oh fuck right off, every brain works at 100% of its “capacity”.. it’s a fucking brain, it’s unthrottled.
- 15:30 — Introduction to The Ancients.
- 17:00 — 10=8, as in base 10 and base 8.
- 17:15 — Called it.
- 18:15 — So it’s confirmed those are actual stargate destinations..
- 19:30 — Well with two people replaced, it’s sortof an SG-0.5
-
40:00 — See, having cement ready would have fixed this silly iris thing.
I wonder if stuff will stay in his brain, just like Carter.
s02e16 – 1999-01-29 – A Matter of Time ∞
Spoiler
-
4:45 — The wormhole can only be open for a certain amount of time, but that was short.
- Also, a return signal would be useful, so the people returning know when it’s safe.
- 14:00 — Called it.
- 18:30 — I recognize that actor.
- 24:00 — Black hole, Time dilation
- 33:30 — A what suit? Gravity? ..
- 37:30 — Will the new guy sacrifice himself, out of guilt?
-
38:00 — The iris wouldn’t have done a damned thing against gravity. That’s just silly.
I thought this episode’s name was a play off of the earlier one’s comment to the azgards.
s02e17 – 1999-02-05 – Holiday ∞
Spoiler
- 4:45 — Body-swapped.
- 10:00 — Called it.
- 14:00 — Will they be stupid enough to activate it when they try to carry it?
- 15:30 — Called it.
- 21:30 — You can’t relax and concentrate.
- 37:30 — I don’t know when it was, but I thought of the musical chairs quite a long ways back.
s02e18 – 1999-02-12 – Serpent’s Song ∞
Spoiler
I didn’t catch the name of the old Egyptian death god.
- 38:00 — So about that second stargate and the ability to disrupt things and send a wormhole skipping to some other one..
s02e19 – 1999-02-19 – One False Step ∞
Spoiler
- 2:30 — That humanoid is plant life.
-
5:30 — Spores.
- Also, Daniel will be sneezing a lot around the humanoids.
- 16:00 — Uh, SG-1 needs to leave.
- 20:15 — Man acts brave, puts life in danger.
- 27:30 — I forgot to say it’ll go both ways.
- 28:00 — Carter should have been spreading it throughout the base, threatening the entire world. Again.
- 34:45 — “I’m looking for something we can’t hear.”
- 36:30 — Earplugs.
s02e20 – 1999-02-26 – Show and Tell ∞
Spoiler
- 1:00 — The computer keeps overriding it? Wut. Why is it even computerized?
- 2:45 — Not what’s he doing there, but how is he there? As in how is the iris not working properly.
- 4:30 — Again, what the fuck is going on?
- 6:45 — No. Don’t name him Charlie.
- 8:00 — Oh good, they’re actually trying to figure out how the iris was being played with.
- 9:45 — If his “mom” was examining O’Neil, then she would have known about Tylk.
- 12:15 — Extrasensory perception, Psychokinesis
-
31:00 — How is it possible for them to have gone there, since they have the detection equipment by the door?
Well this introduces the new Big Bad out of nowhere. Sigh.
s02e21 – 1999-03-05 – 1969 ∞
Spoiler
-
20:15 — Oh he’s just going to stand there.
- I was going to have Carter remove her coat to actually look female. Wasn’t that the entire point of her doing the hitchhiking because she’s female?
So did they not have enough material to build the season-climax some more?
s02e22 – 1999-03-12 – Out of Mind (1) ∞
Spoiler
- 9:00 — Fucking shark-jumping.
- Why wouldn’t SG-C still have access to all those records?
- 18:00 — Yep, I wondered if this was someone else trying to get intel from them.
- 38:00 — Leaving doors open is a bad idea.
