TODO - integrate Firefox add-ons and extensions
Firefox > Firefox complete profile re-creation >
Various add-ons/extensions (what in the fuck are they called, anyways?) and their settings.
Disable distribution-supplied extension(s) ∞
Tools > Addons (Control-Shift-a)
-
Disable Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 2.8
- There may be some equivalent for other distributions.
Tools > Addons > Languages
-
For some fucked-up reason, I had the English (South Africa) Language Pack 29.0 installed by default. Disabled.
Copying extensions from another profile ∞
-
There's an addon to help with this, I should look into it. It may not be updated/functional anymore though.
You can copy your profile/extensions folder. When Firefox opens, it will prompt for the installation of these addons.
UNKNOWN - Copying extension preferences from another profile ∞

I have not looked into this. I've been doing things by hand to re-judge everything, document it all and make sure things are squeaky-clean.
Extensions ∞
-
33.0 - Tested 2014-11-17 on Lubuntu 14.04 amd64, updated recently. Firefox 33.0, provided in the default repository.
- I have made no changes since Firefox 29.0.
-
30.0 - Tested 2014-06-20 on Lubuntu 14.04 amd64, updated recently. Firefox 30.0, provided in the default repository.
- I have made no changes since Firefox 29.0.
-
29.0 - Tested 2014-05-24 on Lubuntu 14.04 amd64, updated recently. Firefox 29.0, provided in the default repository.
It's probably best to install these all in one go, restart Firefox, then go through the list and configure them one-by-one.
When first installing an extension, it gives a "You can access" sync message underneath. Press the 'x'.
Before installing extensions, I recommend about:config security.dialog_enable_delay;0
The list of extensions and their configuration
Misc extensions with no configuration ∞
- 1-Click Dailymotion Video Download
-
- Block ads based on a simple rule set. Meant to be very light weight.
- Note that is has no blacklist or whitelist.
- Change Referrer Button
-
- Adds two Tools menu items. One to disable JavaScript, and another to disable images.
- As this is a JetPack/SDK extension, it is not compatible with Pale Moon 27.0.0
Misc extensions which don't need configuration ∞
- FindBar Tweak
- Go Parent Folder
-
- Moves Edit > Preferences to Tools > Options, where it belongs.
keyword.URL Hack! ∞
This is gone, consider Keyword Search. That page also has additional keyword-related notes.
[ 1 ] was addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/457813
Add a custom web browser when typing non-URLs into the location bar.
-
about:config keyword.URL was removed (bug 738818) for unfathomable reasons.
Once keyword.URL Hack! is installed, you can add that old about:config entry:
keyword.URL;https://duckduckgo.com/?kac=-1&k7=kt&kj=kt&kaf=1&kae=d&kp=-1&kz=-1&kn=1&kf=-1&kd=1&ka=a&ku=1&kt=a&ko=s&ke=-1&kk=-1&k1=-1&kv=1&q=
note that keyword.URL is case-sensitive.
Extensions which I liked but no longer use ∞
-
- Adds the ability to create and edit entries in the password manager.
- I used a version somewhat before 2.7.2, probably with Firefox 25 or so. It was important for exporting all of my login information by hand into another program. I don't trust Firefox and I also don't want to be chained to a behemoth everything-in-one program.
Which I used to use a long time ago. ∞
Firefox 2 ∞
-
Session Manager [ 2 ] was addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2324
- Obsoleted by Firefox 2
-
Remember Mismatched Domains [ 3 ] was addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2131/
- 1.2.8.1 was the most stable one. It seems that the latest versions are all broken. =(
- Not needed anymore for Firefox 3
Footnotes
Last updated 2020-06-13 at 21:56:19
Added some ancient notes from very old addons which I used to use.
Why? I dunno.
Moved [[Redirect Remover]] notes into its own page.
