How to do the equivalent from Windows, of:

1. Open an explorer window
2. Navigate to a folder

3. right-click > New text file

There is no equivalent on macOS’ Finder.

2022-11-24 on macOS 13 (Ventura)

1. Open a Finder window
2. Navigate to a folder
3. With Spotlight (command-space) run TextEdit.app
4. (Preferences) > New Document > Format: (o) Plain text
5. Save
6. (put the text file anywhere)
7. Hover your mouse at the top-middle, at the title of the app. It might say Untitled.txt
8. Wait a moment and there will be an icon to the left.

9. drag-and-drop that icon into your Finder window.
