Supposedly these applications are customizable with gnome-control-center but it doesn't do anything but give a white box. =/

Theme the menus, buttons, etc with:

smart install gtk-engines2 lxappearance

Then run lxappearance and you can choose a theme. This modifies ~/.gtkrc-2.0 .. if you want to make permanent changes, make them to ~/.gtkrc-2.0.mine
