I received a promo package from Shahin Badar‘s manager in the UK. He even airmailed me a CD!
Now this CD deserves a weblog entry all its own because it comes with:
- Traditional CD-Audio
- CDDB info
- WAV tracks
- FLAC tracks
- Ogg Vorbis tracks
- MP3 tracks
-
All of the above as a single “Full CD” file.
Someone out there is smart.
Now for the downside. I don’t particularly like any of it. The remix of Yeh Rog (track 2) is quite funny, since I can’t possibly take rap seriously. It’s also very repetitive. Track five has a lot of potential, but the playfulness is definitely strange to my ears.
The rest, is interesting. I don’t have much expore to Desi music, nor to the more recent wave of cross-culture remixes, so I lack a strong opinion. Tracks one and seven are such teases.. and I think that I’d like the full songs.
I also learned that my straight DVD player has some issues with it, and can’t play CD-Audio.. probably since it’s not wired to do so. But I didn’t wire my dvd writer to do it either, and it can play things just fine. That and the burner has much better access speed to the disk. Maybe it’s a wacky writable-DVD type.

Ported. I probably still have this around here somewhere.
