Stealing Items ∞
-
You can choose to capture a monster and get it and all its items instead of stealing an item from it.
- This is done by throwing a monster onto your base square. It “fights” everybody in there, starting from your top units and working its way down. It chews through the HP and SP of your units, so you should consider having spare units with equipment for this purpose.
- This will only work by throwing a monster! Throwing a human will kill all your units and destroy your base!

- This is great, but not really worth it until higher levels.
- It’s useful for collecting items.
- It’s does not grant experience.

Don’t obsess over low level items unless it’s a huge upgrade.
- Gold low level items are an exception, because you can level up the Disgaea guide – Item Specialists (item dots) more easily with their large number of item specialist slots and deep levels of spelunking.
- Items are stolen from enemies using the Hands item.

The type of Hands item will give you a greater chance to steal and a longer range to do so.
- You should always carry a few high level Hands.

Character level
- Must be at least the level of the enemy it’s trying to steal from, a lower level becomes a 1% chance to steal.
- A higher level has a higher chance of success.
- A level 5140 thief can steal anything in the game.

A Rogue is the most appropriate class to use.
- Other classes work, but at a much-reduced ability and with a maximum of 50%.

+hithelps.- It’s best to have hit on your unit rather than on the item, since the item is consumed when used, taking your +hit with it.

+hiton the Hands which you consume does matter, but it’s better you put them on your Rogue’s gear so you do not consume them.

A 1% chance to steal might still be worth attempting, but ask yourself if it’s really worth trying until you succeed.
- For example, if you can park your character on an Invulnerability panel and keep trying round after round, you will eventually succeed. I’ve done this.
- It is for this very reason that I always have a Hands item in my top inventory slot. It is less clicks and is easier to macro if you use a special controller [ 1 ]
- You may wish to keep a legendary Steal item to steal with, but be extremely specific as to when you use this, because there are some extraordinary circumstances very late in the game which you ought to save that Steal for. Learn about very late game events before you carry one of these.
- You can attempt to steal, and then bring up another character to either throw your Rogue to safety or throw the enemy to a safe distance.

Once an item is stolen its effects are no longer applied to the enemy, obviously, but this also means you can disarm and debilitate enemies by stealing from them.
- Stealing a weapon might completely hobble an enemy.
- Remember that if you steal an item you can equip it right away.

You cannot steal from clones spawned because of the “Clone” geo panel.
Item Improvement (“spelunking”) ∞
Items can be improved not just with item specialists but by entering into them, fighting or skipping levels, and spelunking down.
To do so, talk to Ema.
Things to know:

When an item has an Item Specialist (a dot) on a stat, it permanently improves that particular stat as you spelunk deeper into the item.
- The higher the Item Specialist, the greater the improvement.
- There is no difference between having two lower item specialists or one higher item specialist. For example, two 100 versus one 200; it’s the combined impact which matters.
- Therefore you should fill an item with as many of your preferred Item Specialists before spelunking into it.

Item Specialists existing on an item only matters every 10 levels.
- Therefore if you want to customize the item, you can capture all grey Specialists and use a Gency’s Exit on or before level 9, remove those now-gold dots, arrange your dots the way you wish, then re-enter to win your level 10.
- Note that if you have not captured all grey dots by level 9 (or 19, etc.) then you can safely use Gency’s Exit and re-enter. You are free to save game cheese to keep trying to spawn a grey dot.

To get the best improvement you must clear the boss fight levels: 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100
- You may freely use Gency’s Exit on any level, boss or non-boss on these levels
- Regular non-boss levels (Therefore not levels 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100) give the same item improvement benefit whether you skip the level or win the level.
- You can use a Gency’s Exit whenever you wish, and if you re-enter the item you will continue where you left but with a randomized level.
- Always have a Gency’s Exit because some maps can be really hard or impossible for you.

Always have at least one Hands item; more if possible.

- Items have a maximum level of 100.
- Sometimes you should use a Gency’s Exit on level 99 and save your game. See Item God 2.

Items will increase in slots to a maximum of 16 item dot slots. However, not all items can get there because they begin with too low a number of item slots.
Summary:
- Capture all grey dots and do not reach level 10.
- Fill the item with gold dots of your choice.

Clear levels 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100.
- You can skip everything else with the right combination of characters to lift, throw, punch, jump, run, and geo-change.
Store notes ∞
- No silver/gold (rare/legendary) items appear.

You can upgrade/downgrade what is shown in a store by visiting the council.
- When you upgrade you will begin to lose access to lower level items.
— If you are a completionist and want to collect all items, then remember to buy any items marked new in a store before you upgrade and can’t get them any more (unless you downgrade).
- When you upgrade you will begin to lose access to lower level items.

You can visit a store, and if you don’t like what you see you can exit and visit it again to get a new randomized list.
- There is no way to control what is shown.
- If you sell something by mistake, then you can buy it back right away. However, if you leave the store you cannot buy it back.

When looking at the store, you can cursor to the right to see your Warehouse, for example to sell items directly from it.

Item God 2 ∞
This enemy appears in floor 100 in items of rank 40 of the item noted or itself. You must defeat the boss on your first try; you cannot exit at level 100 then re-enter the item. Therefore you should exit at 99, save the game, and then enter the item.
