It always bothers me how science fiction presents artificial intelligence. How it's made, how it's taught and how it's interacted with is astonishingly stupid.
A philosopher is always the right answer.

Any specialty, facing any specialized problem, will always be greatly enhanced with philosophy.
A philosopher is capable of different, and quite frankly better, thinking than a mere specialist.
Civil unrest? Philosopher. Revolution? Philosopher. Aliens? Philosopher.
The law is something I've always found strange when it lacks philosophy. Knowing how to shape questions and find answers that make sense is fundamental to the law. Not just in crafting the law, but in accusation, conviction and punishment.
A philosopher can ask basic questions like "is this law being applied universally?", "does this punishment fit the crime?", or "will this punishment actually accomplish anything?"
A philosopher will call out "false dichotomy" or some other basic logical fallacy. No more compound-questions or assumptions of meaning.
Artificial intelligence? Send a fucking philosopher to observe it, to test it, to teach it. A philosopher with a secondary skill set is always superior to just that specialist.
Here, a philosopher with a background in computer science should have been doing the polish-work on the AI.
Philosophers with a background in psychology, sociology, even singing, should have been working on its communication.
Philosophers with a background in fitness, even dance, should have been working on its outward form.
A philosopher who knows aesthetics, or even fashion design, would have helped its outward appearance.
Its way of sorting and understanding knowledge, viewing the world or interactions with people would all have been enhanced with a philosopher.
If already created, a philosopher-child psychologist would be the proper way to teach and raise an AI. Problems of ethics and reasoning would be entirely avoided. The computer scientists who created the thing would simply throw knowledge at it, as though they think the written word is what creates well-adjusted adults.
Aliens coming through a stargate to take over the world? Cement. Otherwise the answer is a philosopher.
