s01e05 – disk2/1 – 108 – The Parliament of Dreams ∞
(was The Parliament of Dreams, not archived)
Spoiler
2008-07-28:
- Another episode which goes over some of the commander’s love life. Is this supposed to be the same character which was featured in the .. pilot I think it was.
- 0:15:35 — Jkar reveals that he has a history in the war of independence as well as having been on the council.
- 0:16:55 — Delenn is called Satai.
- 0:17:55 — Delenn is called a member of the Grey Council. She also tells .. not to mention her status or position again.
- 0:19:40 — We recognize the big guy, or at least most of his face minus the nose, from s1,cd1,ep3.
- 0:20:30 — His girlfriend was in the academy.
- 0:24:00 — And so it begins.
- 0:26:00 — This is reinforcing an earlier comment about Jkar’s exploits with human woman. In fact, a much earlier episode showed him talking with the Psi to mate with her.
- 0:28:20 — The audio track is from Alfred Tennyson.
- 0:33:00 — Introduction to the “pain giver” technology. And, what is this “feet” he talks about?
- 0:35:10 — So .. explain why the person Jkar was talking on that screen with didn’t see anything.
- 0:35:20 — Introduction to Jkar’s resolution to not cry out. This is used elsewhere in the series.
-
0:42:00 — The first one introduced is an Atheist..
- Yes, 42.
Spoiler
- No mention of the Euphrates treaty.
- This episode happens a week after s1 disk1/3.
- Introduction of Lenir.
-
Backstory of J’Kar, his formerly being in a council of leaders.
- 0:20 — Knives are allowed on the station, even weapons. This seems to be the case in future episodes.
- 0:40 — Considering the recent politics about Earth withdrawing from alien contact, it’s odd to have a religious showcase.
-
1:30 —
I’m thinking of thinking of calling her right
after my afternoon nap.I’m thinking of thinking of sending her flowers,
right after Bonnie gets back.So many fishies left in the sea.
So many fishies, but no one for me.
I’m thinking of thinking of hooking a love,
soon after supper is done.
- G’Kar had/has some ability to ruin a family name and speak to “the council”, presumably a government body.
- Introduction of Diplomatic Attaché Natoth, G’Kar’s new aid. Apparently she replaces Kodoth, G’Kar’s head of diplomatic staff (introduced s1 disk1/3, 1:50)
-
7:05 — Introduction of Catherine, Sinclair’s old fling.
- Seen earlier, but named now.
- 11:20 — The hand-badges weren’t present in the pilot.
- 11:50 — Sinclair and Carolin broke up about a year ago. This confirms that this episode (and presumably the series) begins about a year after the pilot.
-
12:20 — “This is how we get into trouble every three years” suggests that they’ve “gotten into trouble” at least twice before.
- So three years previous, and six years previous to that.
- Perhaps Sinclair wasn’t married three years ago, or Sinclair had an affair with Catherine three years ago.
- 12:50 — While she pronounced her name “Kodoth”, G’Kar pronounces it “Kodath”.
- Kodath was killed a week earlier.
- 13:05 — The first mention of “the Ka-ri”.
- There is a Naarn assassin’s guild called “the Thentomakur”.
- 14:40 — G’Kar has a reputation for sleeping with Earth women.
- 14:55 — G’Kar was on the council (the Ka-ri) for five years.
- 16:20 — Introduction of Lenir, of the Third Fain of Chutomo, Delenn’s diplomatic aid.
- He was “a simple navishiate”.
- 20:10 — Sinclair does seem to have a good relationship with Fresh Air.
- Sinclair and Catherine were at “the academy” together, presumably military.
- 21:45 — Sinclair has a brother.
- 22:00 — The first use of the Minbari “will you follow me” ritual.
- 23:20 — Sinclair and Delenn’s meaningful look.
-
23:40 — “And so it begins”, probably meaning Delenn’s chrysalis.
- Yes, since 40:20 Sinclair says this was their rebirth ceremony.
- 26:30 — “Durinium”, a fictional material of some sort.
- Quantium 40
- 28:10 — The courier talking about the contents of the message should have been a dead giveaway.
-
28:10 — Sinclair is listening to..
…I am become a name; For always roaming with a hungry heart Much have I seen and known; cities of men And manners, climates, councils, governments, Myself not least, but honoured of them all; And drunk delight of battle with my peers; Far on the ringing… — Ulysses (1842), by Alfred, Lord Tennyson.
- “Antarian Flarn”
-
28:50 — Catherine is quoting two other lines from Ulysses:
Ah, and which are you? “An idle king, doling unequal laws unto a savage race that hoard and sleep and feed and know not you“? Or, “this gray spirit, yearning in desire to follow knowledge like a sinking star“?
- +1 day
- 29:25 — Yes, women can turn it off like a switch. By the way, it’s been a couple of years since their last fling, and then a couple of years before that and before that, etc. I guess he’s useful again? Maybe for a little while. Then off goes the switch.
- Catherine never really liked Flarn? Presumably Sinclair does.
- 31:20 — The person on the other end of that call heard G’Kar talk about the courier being right there, and probably also saw the ray gun zap.
-
32:30 — Introduction of pain givers.
- Supposedly coming within five feet will kill the wearer, but he comes that close later.
- 34:40 — Establishing G’Kar won’t scream out under torture.
- +3 days
- 39:25 — Yes, G’Kar is happy. The earlier tension between G’Kar and Molari seems to be gone, although they haven’t interacted so that’s ok.
- 39:40 — Deneb (Alpha Cygni)
-
42:00 —
- Atheist
- Note that “Atheism” isn’t actually a thing. There is no concept of an “ism” when there is no group. Really this scene should have gone “mr foo, an atheist, mr bar, an atheist, etc.” It would have been hilariously accurate to go down the line with “mr foo, an atheist who says he’s a catholic..”
- Roman Catholic
- Zen Buddhist
- Muslim
- Orthodox Jew
- Haclala(?) suflet(?)
- Greek Orthodox
- Evo(?) tribe
- Yupik eskimo
- Hivaro(?) tribe
- Bantu
- Taoist
- Aborigi
- Shinto
- Mauri
- Hindu

- 0:50:20 — Talking about the Psi Core.
- 0:57:32 — No one here is exactly what he appears.
- 1:03:35 — The lady Psi should not have said that aloud. There was no need, and it was a security breach for the benefit of the dumbass show audience.
Spoiler
- This episode directly follows s1 disk2/1 – 108 – “The Parliament of Dreams” because it continues the Catherine and Sinclair relationship.

- 7:15 — Introduction of Bester.
- 7:50 — That’s a mighty fine room. Spacious for a station.
- 8:50 — Introduction of Jason Ironheart, Talia’s former instructor (and lover).
- 10:05 — There’s no way a p5 could do anything to resist a pair of p12s. That’s just insane. They should have established that Ironheart could have helped her bury the fingerprints.
- 12:30 — J’Kar warned Cathering about Σ957’s “strange things”.
- 15:20 — 1:1,000 humans have telepathic abilities.

- 1:35:00 — Revealing that the security dude knows stuff.
- 1:46:20 — … everything we’ve worked for will be destroyed. is a common phrase it seems.
- 1:47:55 — You can clearly see the girl’s neck-covering. =(
- 1:50:00 — I would have hired the aliens to rough him up and help his story.
- 1:55:09 — There’s no logical reason why that would be the end of the recording. Why even have that said. Just have it turned off dramatically.
- 1:57:00 — {{purple|My shoes are too tight. But it doesn’t matter, because I’ve forgotten how to dance.}}
- 2:01:40 — Oh, what a terribly dramatic toast. I mean.. terrible at being dramatic.
- 2:05:05 — Man, I hate her neck-cover. I even hate the little chin-strap, but I see the reasoning for it..
Spoiler
-
Human anti-alien literal-racism being established. Introduction of “the home guard”
- 0:30 — Delenn’s bonehead has skin pigment on it. =/
- 1:40 — Why ever would there be poorly lit areas.
- Isn’t green sector for diplomats? If so, wouldn’t it actually be secure?
- 5:00 — This is the sixth attack on aliens.
- 7:45 — Garibaldi knows about Ivanova’s coffee planters.
- 12:25 — In an earlier episode, a knife was definitely restricted. See s1 disk2/1 – 108 – “The Parliament of Dreams“.
- 12:35 — If he cut himself, he can produce the wound, right?
- 13:50 — Why meet Kosh in person, don’t they communicate via video phone?
- 14:05 — “We take no interest in the affairs of others.”, meaning Kosh isn’t there as a diplomat.
- 14:40 — It appears that Kosh can only answer questions truthfully.
- 15:05 — Establishing Ivanova’s like of flowers, though I guess this doesn’t need to be established.
- 17:10 — Babylon 5 is 75 light years away from Molari’s wives, perhaps Centauri Prime.
-
29:10 —
My shoes are too tight. Something my father said. He was, old. Very old at the time. I went into his room, and he was sitting alone in the dark, crying. So I asked him, what was wrong, and he said ‘my shoes are too tight, but it doesn’t matter, because I have forgotten how to dance. I never understood that until now. My shoes are too tight, and I have forgotten how to dance.
- Introduction of black light camouflage prototypes.
- 39:00 — It’s not in Earth’s interest to assassinate alien diplomats, that sort of thing leads to war.
s01e08 – disk2/4 – 106 – And The Sky Full Of Stars ∞
(was And The Sky Full Of Stars, not archived)
Spoiler
2008-07-29:
We learn more about the doctor’s history.
- 02:24:45 — This newspaper which Gariboldi is reading would be an excellent snapshot to take and analyze.
- 02:28:00 — What he really means is that they’ll jump sharks together.
Spoiler
- A newspaper headline places this after any mention of Raghesh 3.
- A newspaper headline continues Psi-Corps government meddling.
-
A deep look into the events around Sinclair’s blackout on The Line.
- 9:40 — Sinclair has some issues about his time on The Line.
-
13:30 — Select Universe Today snippets..
- Jacob Lester found guilty in attack on Minbari Embassy
- Psi-Corps in election tangle
- “Did Psi-Corps violate its charter by endorsing vice president?”
- Narns settle Raghesh 3 controversy
- San Diego soil considered too radioactive for occupancy
- “… act of nuclear terrorism over 100 years ago…”
- 17:50 — Jeffery David Sinclair, 39 years old, born on Mars Colony May 3rd, 2218, 9:15am Earth standard time. Enlisted in Earthforce Defence 2237. Promoted to fighter pilot 2240. Promoted to squad leader less than a year later. A career officer like your father, and his father and his father.
- 19:20 — So about this trap thing.. Sinclair said in an earlier episode that the Minbari act honourably. A trap isn’t honourable.

- 24:20 — “What do you want?”
- 27:40 — “But they needed a fifth column; people like you.”
- 32:50 — First appearance of the Triluminary.
- It occurs to me that if Sinclair were under observation, a telepath would have been sent with Delen.
-
38:10 — Garibaldi:
They say he’s part of an organization back home that’s trying to prove collusion between Earth officials and the Minbari. There’s even a rumour it’s a covert operation run from somewhere inside the government.
- 38:50 — The guards standing right there listening is not “alone”.
- 41:05 — Sinclair knows about what happened.
- 41:20 — Oh! That’s a telepath isn’t it?
- Killing him would be very, very bad for a member of the religious order. Hell, bad for her personally, since she was among those who stopped the war because killing humans is killing their own, and they don’t kill their own. Also, who is that guy to give her orders? Maybe he’s not a telepath but is a somehow higher-ranking member of the grey council.
