This page attempts to answer:
- What order should I watch episodes in?
- When do I watch movies?
-
Are there any “fluff” episodes which I can ignore? (but probably won’t)
They are broken into rough binge-sessions, which should take an evening. This concept needs some more thought though.

Avoiding spoilers ∞
-
Items tagged “Spoiler” in this page are spoilers. Duh.
- I write some notes to try to understand an episode in the context of the whole series, to improve viewing order. So these are “big” spoilers.
- I’d prefer to not reveal the episode names, because I consider those spoilers. The problem is that the disks use the titles, so they are unavoidable.
- The box and disk art are technically spoilers.
- When playing the disks the autorun episode previews are spoilers! Be sure to skip these!
- When playing the disks, the images within it are often spoilers, including and probably especially the per-episode images.
-
The season introduction played in part 2 of each episode is technically a bit of a spoiler.

How to use this page ∞
-
The numbers on the left are..
- The season.
- The disk.
- The episode on that disk.
- The production code. This isn’t meaningful for most people, and is just here for completeness.
-
Departures from the original US airing order are marked with a
+- This is not important for most people.
An example:
-
s01e07 – disk2/3 – 107 – The War Prayer
- Season one, episode 7
- The second disk of season one’s boxed set.
- The third item on that disk.
- That episode’s production code is 107.
-
That third item’s episode name is The War Prayer.
This page groups episodes together by disk, so you know when to switch disks.

2008-08-03:
stupid medieval episode
- 7:06 — On the right-hand side, in the background, is a sign which looks like it says “housewares”.
-
11:39 — How is it that they think this guy didn’t have any ID, when he came in with a card?
mostly-skippable. Shows the proposal for the babylon5 treaty.
next:
- 58:45 — Let me get this straight. Ivonova was not being watched by another, or even recorded. The first sign of things was her linking in. So perhaps Bester took over her mind, danced around and made her say that everything’s ok.
-
1:02:30 — Uh, this entire episode is without any evidence whatsoever..
- 2:24:40 — Re-use of the same tachyon portal footage.
- 2:31:30 — This means that Babylon 1,2,3 were likely also sabotaged in a similar way.
s3 disk4/1 + 312 – “A Late Delivery from Avalon” ∞
Spoiler
- Post office shenanigans.
- King Arthur King Arthur
- @12:00 — Why don’t you check the Asimov for his ditched ID?
- G’Kar is seen making a deal with a shady guy to ferry information back and forth.
- G’Kar helps Arthur, and is knited Sir G’Kar, the “Red Knight Red Knight].
- G’Kar is seen drunk.
- The [[en:Green Knight.
- So the entire episode is bullshit because they won’t just use a telepath or consult a real councilor.
- Delenn is the “Lady of the Lake.
- The post office is now paying a sort of protection fee to the Garibaldi.
- The former-Arthur is brought into the Naarn resistance.

Season 3, disk 5 ∞
Spoiler
2008-08-03:
- 25:25 — Ok, so .. I wonder if one of the many Mumbari redcoats would be willing to give up their device for someone greater than them? Nope, nobody thought of that.
-
42:55 — He appears with Vorlons, for instant credibility. But. Umm. Where did the Vorlons come from?
- 0:51:30 — Ok, what’s with the Kosh replacement? Why didn’t they bother sending a duplicate encounter suit? I guess because he speaks differently.
- 0:53:20 — We are all Kosh.
-
0:59:00 — Sheridan’s voice transposed with Kosh’s, and lots of little hint-dropping.
-
2:06:05 — That’s taking a page straight out of a terrible terrible Star Trek episode. That setup isn’t even remotely believable. Come. The. Fuck. On.
- 2:11:25 — First appearance of a funky-looking race, on the left there.
s3 disk5/2 + 318 – “Walkabout” ∞
Spoiler
- Beautiful Indian doctor.
- Leta returns to ask after Kosh.
- Kosh’s replacement arrives.
- Sheridan’s walk outside is noticed by the Vorlon ship, which tries to communicate in writing.
Spoiler
- The multiple-zathras’ are revealed.

- This is the time-jump episode.
Season 3, disk 5 ∞
s3 disk5/1 – 317 – “War Without End” – part 2/2 ∞
s3 disk5/3 – 319 – “Grey 17 Is Missing” ∞
Spoiler
- They are looking for telepaths to fight the shadows.
- Delenn asked to lead the rangers.
- Stephen asks to be left alone from here on.
- Delenn wants to have the ranger leadership ceremony on Babylon 5. This is unnecessary idiocy just as having Bester on a ranger ship was.
- Naroon approaches Delenn to ask her to give up the ranger mantle to the warrior caste.
- Naroon reveals the Religious cast making ships. Plural.
- Garibaldi diskovered level 16.5, but nobody notices his emergency elevator stop or override. Somehow a sound from the next room over, through a door, distracts him from communicating. When shot with a poison dart, his attempt at communicating doesn’t work when it should have been logged.
- Lots of foreshadowing in this episode.
- Freddy Cruegar is a special guest.
- Marcus declares Den’Sha (To the Death), a pike-fight, with Naroon.
- Garibaldi fights a Zarg.
s3 disk5/4 – 320 – “And the Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place” ∞
(And the Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place)
Spoiler
- Telepaths who signed on to fight are being assigned to various posts.
- Londo hatches a plan to get rid of G’Kar, enlisting Vir.
- Londo’s and Reefa’s houses are competing, and the lord kingy dude wants it resolved.
- Vir is scanned for Londo’s plan. This should have been written differently. The conversation should have been partial, with the scan filling in the blanks.
- Christian woman-hate.
- Shadow corral tactics are diskovered.
- Londo rescues Vir.
- How G’Kar got the message from Londo and the documents he suggested is not explained. How Londo frees 1,000 Naarn, or would free another 1,000 is not explained.
- Reefa doesn’t run ahead of time, or open fire on the Naarn.
- Reefa runs, but the gun is no longer in his hand.
- Once again, Londo and Vir have a revealing conversation immediately after leaving the quarters of the people who they don’t want to hear that conversation.
- The ranger fleet is revealed.
Season 3, disk 6 ∞
Spoiler
2008-08-03:
- 7:07 — Wait a second, if that was at B5, shouldn’t it be using the gate instead of jumping like that? Or is the secret out now?
- 19:25 — Ok, so.. uh. Why not show the displays right away, so he can get into practice during the downtime before the fight?
- 21:10 — Automatic repair? Uh, mentioning a mystical and overpowered technology on the side like that is. Really annoying.
- 21:45 — Or they could launch a probe or shuttle or something, maybe towards a planet and make it look like it was regular comm traffic from there?
- 25:35 — If there are escort ships preventing telepaths from having line of sight to their capital ships. Then, uh. Use the telepaths on the escort ships first. They’re just laying around waiting anyways.
-
32:00 — The reason the shadows have not openly attacked (as opposed to sabotaged) Babylon 5 is because there’s a Vorlon there.
- 46:15 — Why is she so damned frosty? At least she could have the pretence to act like it matters, and have a much better and more immediate story.
- 1:01:59 — Let me get this straight. The civilization could have a probe which can communicate across the galaxy. But, when they land on their home world, they don’t have the ability to send a signal out? If the craft’s communications systems are destroyed, perhaps the Shadows have communications gear? Naw, that would be silly. They’re approachable but won’t let you communicate? Right.
- 1:02:10 — So here’s the excuse. Hibernation. Vulnerability. Silence. Hmm.. plausible.
- 1:10:55 — Who are you? is Kosh’s phrase. Notice how the npc, urr.. I mean gentleman reacts to deflect it.
-
1:18:55 — Evolution will be served one way or the other. Yes, which means that evolution will be served even by continuing to organize the other races.
WARNING: Audience-hostage cliffhanger ending.
s3 disk6/1 – 321 – “Shadow Dancing” ∞
Spoiler
- The first alliance engagement with the shadow fleet. A success at great cost.
s3 disk6/2 – 322 – “Z’ha’dum” ∞
(Z’ha’dum)
Spoiler
- (season-ending viewer-hostage episode)
- Delenn admits she loves Sheridan.
- The story behind humans landing on Za’ha’duum is odd. Why would they assume that their scout ship wouldn’t be detected before getting near the planet?
- Leta is mysteriously unavailable when her scanning would be helpful in examining Sheridan’s wife Anna’s story.
- “Who are you?” is asked of the old man (Justin), who is very nervous about the question.
- Shadow ships appear all around Babylon 5, but the ships which are on permanent flyby aren’t around, and neither are the alliance ships which are permanently on rotating defence.
- Babylon 5 can’t get through to Draal, but they’re too stupid to send a ship there, and Draal can’t figure any of this shit out on his own. How can they jam Draal but not jam local communication?
- Sheridan admits his love for Delenn via a pre-recorded message.
- Garibaldi is captured by a shadow vessel.
Season 4, disk 1 ∞

- G’Kar stole Garibaldi’s hat!
- They didn’t need to re-use the earlier shot of Londo looking up at the shadows, where they were forced to have him in his old coat. TODO – listen to the commentary for the explanation. It was probably too hard to re-do the cgi.
- The emperor is mad.
s4 disk1/2 – 402 – “Whatever Happened to Mr. Garibaldi?” ∞
(Whatever Happened to Mr. Garibaldi?)
Spoiler
- There is no fucking way in hell that they’d clear MedLab since their engagement with the Shadows and an extra nine days. Did they send most of the people off for medical treatment with their respective races?

- Marcus is revealed to be celibate.
- Marcus and Ivanova diskover the Vorlon folded-hyperspace.

- G’Kar loses an eye.

Relatively lame. Tends to expand the possibilities of the series and the Vorlons. Doesn’t do a good job of it though.

- Why the excitement about shooting them before they get to the gate? Just go into hyperspace and destroy them on the other side?
s4 disk3/4 – 412 – “Conflicts of Interest” ∞
Spoiler
- Ok, so they want power to reach earth, but they’re not using relays through hyperspace. See the thing of it is, that even sending a message to Earth at the speed of light would take time. Without the shortcut through hyperspace, they’re significantly delayed.
