Water ∞
Regularly water! ∞
Container plants must be watered evenly and consistently. They must not dry out, otherwise there is damage to the roots and the plant will not recover properly. For many people, the plant wilting (incorrectly) tells them that the plant needs water, which is technically true because damaged roots have trouble getting water. Then they over-water and there is a chance of having the already-damaged roots rot!
Soil ∞
Calcium ∞
(Calcium)
Calcium must be bioavailable by being water-soluble.
It can be made by soaking calcium carbonate (e.g. from eggs shells) in vinegar to make calcium acetate.
- Calcium is extremely immobile in the plant and therefore effects new tissue, especially meristems first
-
Calcium deficiency can be a problem in acid soils.
