A high quality budget microphone.

• I use the Blue Sherpa software.
• The bottom is a 1/4″ hole

  • combination 3/8″ female and 5/8″ female.

• NOTE – do not lose/discard the original cable! It might be important to switch back to it.

2019-04-16 ∞

• Works just as well as the Blue Yeti I used to use.
• The mute button is hardware, and actually works. Windows 10 cannot listen through the microphone when the button is pressed and has gone red.
• I’m using this with an absorption cable which can trivially detach.

• I’m using this with a Radius II.

  • Though it fits, I cannot plug headphones in at the same time.
  • I should have bought the Radius III, which I heard would suit the Yeti Nano. However, the Blue website doesn’t note any shock mounts suitable for the Yeti Nano.
  • I ended up buying some adapters which let me drop it down a little. Then I ended up removing the shockmount altogether because I demonstrated that it was doing nothing at all.

Usage ∞

Disable the monitoring functionality ∞

• Use it as an audio device and,
• plug headphones directly into it

• .. without using the monitoring feature

  • Which leaves the mic “open” so you can listen to what it “hears”.

Then press and hold the back little cardioid button for two seconds.

Orange blinking light ∞

If the front circular light is blinking orange, then change:

• Sound > Microphone Properties > Advanced >

• Default Format [2 channel, 24 it, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)

Freezing computer ∞

I thought my system freezing issue was associated with VirtualBox, but perhaps it’s my Blue Yeti Nano having the same issue which I had with my Blue Yeti.

• 2020-10-15 on Windows 10 – I haven’t seen this problem in a long time.

Buzzing / whining audio ∞

Steps to reproduce:

• Right-click the volume icon in your tray > Sounds

• Click the Recording tab

The audio is heard from either the monitor headphones (plugged directly into the mic) or from desktop speakers.

If the microphone cable or mic is held, the sound becomes muted.

Suggestions ∞

1. Replace the cable with the original Yeti Nano cable.

   • This was the solution which worked for me.
2. Plug the cable into another USB port.
3. Plug the cable into a USB hub which has a separate power adapter helping it.
4. Use a shorter cable.

5. Use a replacement cable of a higher quality.

   • Consider a replacement USB cable which has a Ferrite Core.

6. Make sure the USB cable is not tangled with any other cables.

   • It’s possible (though unlikely) that there’s interference from some other cabling.

7. Disable any software which works with your microphone.

   • This isn’t a solution, because the whine is heard as soon as a piece of software “opens” the microphone to listen through it.
   • e.g. disabling the program Push To Talk.
