Fleeing the dystopian space stations of the survivors of a ruined earth, settlers crash and struggle to survive on an alien world.
This definitely does not stand the test of time. The music alone makes it cheesy as hell.
It's the music that kill this for me. It's constant, loud and whining. The acting is.. good, I guess, but I really hate some of the characters. The writing and characters seem strange.
The underlying ideas aren't great. This could just be a western.
Entertainment which is dated might be good "in its context", compared to others of its era, but I guess the problem with this genre is it's expected to hold up against its genre and not so much its time period.
All in all, this is family-friendly and low-brow, but it has abstract concepts and near-horror which would make it hostile to little minds. I could see how this could be pitched to make it into an early-evening slot. I could also see how even the first two episodes would cripple its standing.
I read that this series did very well at its beginning, but I can't see how. Maybe in the back of my mind I'm too-closely comparing this to Babylon 5. That, and I'm not eleven years old.
I couldn't get half way into the second episode.
