A dude begins his career as a night manager for some place somewhere but gets used by British intelligence to act against an arms dealer.
Fairly decent, but I suspect it’s only because this is another show with a British accent being thrown around carelessly.
-
Based on The Night Manager (1993 book), by John le Carré
I’m watching this because it has Hugh Laurie, who I know most recently from House – (2004 show).

-
4:15 — Oh! I know her from Farscape – (1999 show)!

- 18:45 — Called it. Also, her eye is in remarkable shape.
-
24:30 — Is she using her wiles?
- 25:00 — Yep. Oh, I’m sure everything will turn out just fine. She’s just paying in advance for the hell she’ll put him through.
- 26:15 — Alternate names. Totally trustworthy. /sarcasm

- 3:30 — I think I recognize that kid, but that can’t be right.. I haven’t watched much stuff in a while, and that kid would be too young to be recognizable.
- 3:30 — Mallorca (Majorca), Spain
-
6:30 — What kid would like alcohol, let alone champagne, at his age.
- Wait, is that the kid from Falling Skies? Oh no no, it just reminds me of him. His name is Noah Jupe.
- 11:30 — NO, you can’t do “Six months earlier” on me.. I can’t fucking keep track of any of this! So this is like three years six months from Egypt and negative six months and a bit from Switzerland?
- 13:45 — Seven Pillars of Wisdom (1922 book), by T. E. Lawrence
- 20:00 — Devon, England
- 26:45 — Yeah, she likes the bad boys and now she’s stalking him. Realistic for a single mother to go after the bad wealthy man.
- 27:30 — I can’t hardly understand her.
- 32:15 — Yeah, underhanded dealings instead of procedure. She’s more evil than the lot of them.
- 34:00 — He’ll be in for a staged fight to help his cred?
- 34:45 — Firstly, called it. Secondly that wasn’t even remotely impressive.
- 36:00 — More of this inexcusable time fuckery.

- 47:00 — The old Nineteen Eighty-Four hair trick.
- 49:00 — He’s gay, right? So that means he can tell the difference between a woman’s and a straight man’s flower arrangement. At a glance. Super gay powers.
- 53:00 — ZitterZatter?
- 53:00 — Also, a missing phone would get searched for.
- 53:00 — Also also, does he have its charger?
- 54:00 — Plant the phone on the gay lieutenant dude.

Spoiler
-
18:00 — I still find it baffling that anyone would disregard the coincidence of seeing the guy in one place and then this other place to save his kid. That’s just silly.
- And what was that about his original place being possibly investigated .. was it Cairo?
- 18:00 — Palma De Mallorca = Palma, Majorca, Spain
- 22:15 — Okay so look, I’ve been paying attention to this particular little clip, and it’s the same fucking one each time. Notice the little contrail streak at the top.
- 28:45 — Oh I would so have lain a trap to catch them.
- 30:00 — Sloppy seconds.
- 30:15 — King’s College Library – perhaps King’s College, Cambridge
- 34:00 — Yeah, she’s a baddie.. but I would have hoped to have a plan in place to deal with this eventuality.
- 34:30 — Istanbul, Turkey
- 34:30 — The voice is the Adhan
-
37:00 — I would have tailed him, possibly also feeding him a story to tell to her. The dude on the bench seemed the type.
Also, I’m still concerned that there have been things just glazed over. I certainly wouldn’t trust anything about “Andrew Birch”, and I have only the vaguest impression that baddie is onto him.
The entire thing with Lance is odd too. Argh, this is frustrating.
- 42:45 — Port of Haydarpaşa, Istanbul, Turkey
- 49:30 — Are we trying to get some exposition for this character?
-

- 46:00 — The Syria[doesn’t exist]n border.
- 51:30 — Were all those computers left unlocked? Bad security practice.

- 27:45 — Andrew is driving, but hasn’t he also drinking?
- 35:15 — A good safe would have an alarm after three failures.
- 36:40 — A good banking app should have the number translated into long-form.
