An amazing (and amazingly-expensive) DVD ripper. Can work with other disks.
I've used this to back up my old DVD discs into .iso files.
- 2024-07-10 - I don't know where I put this, so I'll replace it with Tipard DVD Ripper
2017-09-18 - 9.1.9.5 (28/03/2015) ∞
Testing with DVD ripping to a .iso file.
- I hate software that opens up web pages while it installs. That's creepy.
- It opens the copy tab to start, and switching to another tab takes time, because it's re-reading some part of the same disk.
- I have to click the left-hand "MP4" icon to get a list of types of files to choose between. That's not obvious.
- I guess what I want is VOB. From there I can use some other program to make a .iso
-
I don't know where the temp files are kept, so I don't know if I'll run out of drive space on
C:.- I checked, and it is
C:\Users\user\Documents\DVDFab9\Video\DISK_NAME - There is supposed to be a way to set this, but there doesn't seem to be any configuration possible.
- Oh, I have to cancel, then finish, then at the bottom-left choose where to save it to.
- I checked, and it is
- I ripped, but it didn't do the whole thing, it just gave the first title.
-
I'll try MKV Passthrough, and I see I can
right-clickonOther Titlesin the list, andCheck All.- I don't understand why selecting any item takes time.
- I cannot move the main window when it's analyzing title information
- It feels like this title concept can be defeated by invalid title length information.
- Nope, ripping as MKV saves a bunch of separate files..

- Advanced settings
-
Oh, I may as well go into all the settings now.
Settings ∞
On the main interface, on the Copy tab, on the left column is a dropdown box to select the DVD format. I select DVD9. It should also say "compression 100%" .. which means its opposite. 0% compression, or true-to-source.
To get into the settings, the top-right of the program has a downward-pointing arrow. Click that, then Common Settings.

Note that the Scan BOVs might need tweaking for some DVDs. This is one case where interactive special features data might theoretically be lost by this process.
PathPlayer
-
Scan one VOBU every

The full disk copy seems to work just fine. Where the browsing of the original disc is about 8G, the rip is the expected 4G.

- This keeps shifting URLs, such as https://www.dvdfab.cn/en4, which makes be suspicious of it. [ ↩ ]
