This recipe is quite simple and easy to make. I wanted to use a rice cooker, but I avoided it. I used basmati instead, and just let it happen.
The result was pretty straightforward.. I’d even call it pretty bland to the palate. I wouldn’t use this as a primary dish.. I might be more likely to put some kind of fun curry sauce or curried meat/veggies over it.
- Medium saucepan
-
2 cups of brown rice (I prefer basmati)
Rinse your rice before you use it!
You can use whatever amount of rice and lentils if you maintain the 2:1 water:stuff ratio.
Bring it to a boil.
Once its boiling, turn it to low, then toss in whatever else.
-
+ raisins
Cook for 45 minutes (until the water is soaked up)
-
Add curry powder, cayenne pepper, soy sauce to taste. Maybe add a little salt if you don’t use soy sauce.

Rice and lentils and stuff was added, as I’m actually trying the recipe for breakfast. It worked out quite well, although it’s bland. I actually like that in a food. This seems to be a nice idea which I could expand as a base for the various curry dishes I will want to try/invent.
Ported, for what it’s worth. I don’t remember making this recipe much.
