Does not stand the test of time at all. The cop-buddy thing has been done to death since then and probably soils a more recent re-watch of this movie.

I have fond memories of the series which came after this, and if I like the re-watch then this might get bumped up to mandatory viewing as a lead-in.
It’s the cars that kill it for me. It’s unavoidable that a cop flick gets dated because of such things. Every one that comes to mind suffers the same tint.
This has an interesting concept with a good story. I can see why a series would spin off of it. The late 1980s were all about aliens.
Everything else about the story is fine. I see no problems with writing, acting or even effects. Even looking back now, things don’t seem cheesy at all. This isn’t a B-movie, it’s just old.
