A really small DOS text editor.

Tiny editor
Intro ∞
I regularly use this as the rule to measure other editors by.
Released by Ziff-Davis way back when, in a magazine somewhere. I downloaded it from somewhere or other.. I actually went so far to hunt down its sister versions.
Ted3 is a really really small (12k uncompressed) text editor. It is godlike, and even now I’ll use it for most textfile-editing work under DOS / DOSEMU (See also DOSBox-wrapped text editor). While it can be compressed down to 7k, for a program that size it’s amazingly functional. Even now there are few such programs which challenge it.
2005-08-18 – 3.0 ∞
- Default to —
SET TED=30MN1770C0FFFF - Don’t mess up the keyboard repeat rate when exiting
- Add in word wrap
- Add in handling of > 64k files (Just load up an ~ 64k chunk of the file at a time!)
- Be able to change the number of spaces a tab converts to.

If
ted3is run within Windows, and I cause it to beep.. and windows support for the PC speaker has been removed.. it will hang.- “Windows” is probably a reference to Windows 3.1

Ted3 was ported from an even earlier content management system. This is a DOS text editor that I have loved for many years. If only I could get someone to hack it open to add in a couple of adjustments. =/
