The official distribution has been retired but has been forked/continued as woof-CE. Barry continues to fiddle around with his own stuff. I see Quirky 7.0.3 as of 2015-05-08.

The website is a mess, and pointed me to the wrong latest-version.
-
I had issues with MultiBootUSB not booting anything. But when I tried to use QEMU to boot the ISO directly, it quickly ended with an error. I’m giving up, I only wanted this distribution to experiment with the multibooting.

Based on Ubuntu. Fuck that noise.
Quirky 7.0.3 ∞

Seems annoying to make a LiveUSB.
As I’m unimpressed by Slacko Puppy 5.7, I won’t bother testing this.
2013-12 ∞
There are too many variations, and everything is far too disorganized, right down to the directory listing on the mirrors. I don’t know what to get.
To retry, I like the idea but it’s way too confusing to figure anything out.
early 2013 ∞
Couldn’t get it working with B4/5 of my mouse. Otherwise very very nice!

2011-09-13 – Lucid Puppy 5.2.8 ∞
Really shitty website. Too much junk text all over the place. Desperately needs some consistency.
It took an obnoxious amount of time to figure out how to actually download the fucking thing.
ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/puppy-5.2.8/
- auto-uses swap
-
barks after bootup text, then the screen dies.
*FAIL*
puppy pfix=nox,ram
- I see no video safe mode option
-
drops me into a useless commandline. I don’t know how to start X manually, and play with video settings.

- Tiny tiny, and built with older hardware in mind.
- LiveCD.
- remasterable with the recommended “Puppy Unleashed” download.
- PetGet package manager.
- previously had a benevolent dictator, but is transitioning to a team.
-
Seems to have a bunch of developers making applications for it to reduce the number of dependencies. Pretty cool.

http://www.erikveen.dds.nl/qemupuppy/ — QEMU + Puppy Linux, looks interesting.
puppy-4.1.2-k2.6.25.16-seamonkey.iso ∞
I used to have doubts because it has a single point of failure with one benevolent dictator. But the day after learning this, I noted that [http://www.puppylinux.com/download/release-4.1.htm he’s stepping down] (see the bottom).
wget ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/puppylinux/puppy-4.1.2-k2.6.25.16-seamonkey.iso wget ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/puppylinux/puppy-4.1.2-k2.6.25.16-seamonkey.iso.md5.txt md5sum -c puppy-4.1.2-k2.6.25.16-seamonkey.iso.md5.txt
I was going to test the LiveCD, but I couldn’t burn the CDROM ISO to a DVD. =(
Maybe I could try with VMWare or the equivalent.
I got VirtualBox installed easily enough.
- Single-click madness. I hate that.

This odd window manager is quaint, but I don’t like it. I miss Openbox.
I don’t think this distro is for me. It’s a bit too simple for my needs, and I’d definitely have to remaster it to make some sense out of it..
