2022-11-22 – 13.0.1 ∞
Notes are frequently in comparison to macOS 10.15 (Catalina)
- Some things I have to configure are fucking stupid-hard to find. I shouldn’t have to search the internet to be able to do these things.
- You can’t take a screenshot of a popup menu; sad.
- Hot Corners doesn’t have the same options as macOS 10.15 (Catalina). I can’t, for example, screen lock.
- Finder – You can’t move columns before the filenames.
-
Configuration > Keyboard > Clicking “Keyboard Shortcuts” would just bring me back to Bluetooth.
- This later self-corrected and I couldn’t reproduce this even on a reinstall.
Configuration ∞
Customizations – Theoretically this can all be automated with a script using the built-in Shortcuts (app)
System Settings:
More spacious panes
With more space in each settings pane, it’s simple to find the settings you want right away.
That is an outright lie. Entire sub-dialogs are hidden behind single buttons at the bottom of some panels. It’s outrageously difficult to wade through; I am outraged.

General > Language & Region doesn’t apply it’s date format settings to the date in the menu bar.
TODO – This sort of stuff doesn’t work for the menu bar, only for the Finder:
defaults write -g AppleICUDateFormatStrings -dict 1 'y-MM-dd' defaults write -g AppleICUDateFormatStrings -dict-add 1 "yy-MM-dd" defaults write -g AppleICUDateFormatStrings -dict-add 2 "yy-MM-dd" defaults write -g AppleICUDateFormatStrings -dict-add 3 "yy-MM-dd"

TODO – Dictation ∞
I know you can say “period” and it will adjust whole sentences.
You can also say things like smiley face and winky face.
How do I “undo” it’s previous smart sentence adjustment?
How do I backspace?
How do I undo writing?

Footnotes
- Oh thank god this feature was added in 13 (Ventura) [ ↩ ]

finder date/time settings
I still have no idea how to correct the date/time at the top menu bar.
– adjusted the style
– a little bit of cleanup
Split [[Finder]] into it’s own page.
