Seeking ancient Egyptian treasure Chinese artifacts, archaeologists unleash a curse that threatens the world. Only this time it’s about an ancient warlord’s cursed terracotta army.
Decently follows in the footsteps of the previous two movies, though replacing Rachel Weisz with Maria Bello is a terrible distraction. Anyone who likes the other two movies ought to like this one reasonably well. I think this is worth watching once or twice, but certainly hasn’t enough soul for collection like the first movie.
- Properly titled The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
-
Some small scenes are spoken entirely in the Chinese language, probably Mandarin / Standard Chinese.
- The Mummy – (1999 movie)
- The Mummy Returns – (2001 movie)
- The Mummy – Tomb of the Dragon Emperor – (2008 movie)
- (blank your mind)
-
The Scorpion King – (2002 movie)
- The Scorpion King might appear to be a character-prequel of The Mummy Returns, but it is awful and should be completely separated in your mind. These two movies are not in a series together.

- 0:45 — Ancient China (History of China)
- 2:00 — Back when kings had mad kung fu skills.
-
3:00 — Emperor, Great Wall of China (which does actually have corpses)

- 5:00 — It makes sense that she be young. It makes her living proof.
- 7:00 — Sanskrit
- 9:00 — What’s with all these curses that can be lifted to enslave all mankind? Sigh.
- 10:00 — Unnecessary tone-changing.
- 11:45 — Maria Bello replaces Rachel Weisz. Well how strangely self-conscious for this to use a completely different person, and admit it.
- 14:45 — Bembridge journal
- 16:30 — I’ll take “things that never happen” for 2008, Alex.
- 17:30 — Sir Colin Bembridge appears to be a fictional character, not associated with the Bembridge School mentioned in The Mummy – (1999 movie).
-
18:45 — That floor is squeaky. Why would it be wood?
- (squeaky-floor trap) Oh.
- 21:30 — King Tut (Tutankhamun)
-
24:30 —
- The Eye of Shangri-La (fictional)
- It was smuggled out of China in 1940.
- It’s now being returned to the Shanghai Museum, which was founded in 1952.
- World War II was 1939-1945.
- So it was smuggled out during WWII and is being returned when the Communists had recently taken China. Possibly to appease them for some political reason.
- 25:15 — “Does this mean we can count on you one last time?”
-
26:00 — Na Zdorovie (На здоровье), commonly miss-pronounced “nostrovia” is a Russian language toast, something like “to good health” or “cheers”.
- Johnathan’s reply is “ding dong”, which makes no sense to me.
- 34:30 — Yin and yang
- 41:15 — Does he carry enough cash to buy a truck?
- 42:00 — “Size counts”, a Human penis reference. Casual misandry.

You know very well he owns the farm
A wee bit out…— Mick Maguire (Irish folk song)
- 52:45 — Where’d they get the wood from?
- 56:00 — “It’s not about size, dad, it’s about stamina.” .. I think I’m just going to call anything like this casual misandry.
-
56:00 —
- Walther P38, Peacekeeper (Peacemaker, Colt Single Action Army)
- Thompson submachine gun, Magazine (firearms), Cocking mechanism (Trigger (firearms))
- PPS submachine gun

- 1:02:00 — Humanball.
- 1:05:00 — Dynamite strapped to a bola-grenade.
- 1:16:00 — He turns into a Hydra. Something akin to a Greek Lernaean Hydra but with wings. Not only is that culturally incorrect, but it hasn’t been established at all and makes zero fucking sense.
- 1:18:00 — “Is that a mig(?)” .. is that a type of gun, or is he asking “is that for me?”
- 1:19:15 — Now he’s a guy?
- 1:19:45 — Completely overblown army– oh right, it’s a Chinese army so it has elevendy-billion people.
- 1:21:00 — They weren’t wrongfully cursed. They were enemy combatants.
- 1:25:00 — Absolutely godawful horseback fighting.
- 1:27:00 — That grenade explosion should have been seen shattering some of them.
- 1:28:15 — I don’t know what manner of creature that is.
