An audio mixer.
Does bunches of stuff. I use it with a hotkey to do quick fiddling.

- I’ve been using this for years under various distributions.

I’ve also had aumix in my toolkit
2016-03-30 – 1.0.27.1 ∞
This came pre-installed.
- I keep reflexively pressing
qto quit.escapeworks. -
Strangely, there are no commandline options to do the things that one can do while it’s open.
2016-03-26 – 1.0.27.2-1ubuntu2 ∞
This came pre-installed.
2009-07-19 – 1.0.19 ∞
Has the mic boost stuff which Twinkle and aumix-text lacks.
Save and restore ∞
This works:
su alsactl store 0 alsactl restore 0
(I do that in rc.local)
This doesn’t save/load all settings, like the toggling of mic boost/front.
save settings:
aumix-text -S
load settings:
aumix-text -L
How I got my mic working ∞
2017-11-06 – I wonder if the buzz this was a “ground loop”. I’ve learned a lot since back then, and audio is a difficult subject.
- mute everything but
masterandpcm - mic boost – on, but it gives a buzz.
- mic select – mic2 is lower buzz than mic1
- mic front input on
- [capture] – mic (press
space) - [capture] – ‘capture’ sets the volume. 60-70 seems good
-
[capture] – everything else is off/un-slected/no volume.
If I plug a mic in the back, and I plug a headset in the front for audio.. then it works pretty well. no echo since I have a headset on.. and the volume isn’t bad.
Get rid of the buzzing by removing and re-inserting the mic in the front panel.
Do not insert then remove a mic in the back when it’s live.. I get a nasty nasty buzzing.
