A military unit is sent on missions in a future where all of humanity is at war with alien insects.

The show is animated, and not "anime". As such, it has not held up well with time. The music is fantastic, though. Truly. However, its other high points do not make up for the visual issue I have.

While it doesn't do it for me, I would recommend this for fans of the movie or movie series who can also handle the visual style and jerky movement that to me is reminiscent of ReBoot - (1994 show).

• 8:15 -- If they've been dropped like that, how the hell are they expected to get off that rock? Is a second ship on its way, with drop ships that can extract them, and the civilians?

• 10:00 -- Why wasn't that an instant kill? The bug had surprise.

  • Their bullets go slow. =/
• 11:30 -- Wow, nice music!
• 12:00 -- They really should be pulling back to get better cover and force them through a gauntlet, but I do suppose the base has been torn apart and has too many holes to be useful enough.

• 13:30 -- It appears that this series does not occur after the movie, but is inspired by it.

• 18:15 -- What the hell, his gun doesn't use bullets?

• 22:00 -- The "after the war.." comment ruins everything. So this narration is all in hindsight from a survivor. I hate that, and it really doesn't work for a series.

  • It's Elizabeth Daily. I can't figure out where I know her from though. Maybe Duckman (1994-1997 show), but I just don't know.

• 1:05:30 -- .. well I guess so.
• 1:05:45 -- Some of their darts bounced off. Perhaps they could recover them.
• 1:07:00 -- Presumably that's their offspring. But that means they want to recover it and won't kill it.
• 1:08:45 -- They have memory-erasing psychics?
• 1:09:15 -- They should have gone over first, before sending the flatbed, since it could take the bridge down.
• 1:10:15 -- Why would they attack if they want to save the offspring? Maybe flyer's don't care.
• 1:13:00 -- He turned the comm off before finishing speaking.
• 1:16:15 -- His decision to lose the planet to save those men would easily get him court-marshalled and hanged.
