Windows-specific notes on World of Warcraft performance improvements.
These notes were written, I believe, when playing with World of Warcraft on Windows XP.
Memory usage ∞
If you’re a power user and really need to get the most out of a computer, take a look at your running services.
Swap file ∞
On Windows, the problem is that Windows demands the use of a swap file, even when it doesn’t need and shouldn’t use one. It’s designed to be retarded. Yes, it’s actually made that way, and the only possible reason is because they want poor performance. Seriously.
Turning your Windows swap file off completely is an option, but only when you have more than adequate memory. Remember that Windows isn’t designed to be run without a swap file, so odd things can happen. Be warned.
