Good fun with childish gameplay. No real dying.. could be challenging for good players, if they took it seriously. Would be great multiplayer (which I haven't tried). Spoiled by an entirely impossible area.. so you cannot proceed.
It has a lot of other problems and I mark this one as "entirely unplayable".
Properly titled Lego Star Wars: The Video Game
This is entirely unplayable. Who would be stupid enough to make a game that braindead? I can't get through certain stages without certain characters, and the only way to learn this is to play for an aggravating length of time to find out the hard way.. and with no reward for finding out.. I'd lose all my time and have to do it all over again. Idiocy.
Ya know, it was annoying at first but I got the hang of it. Trying to sheath a lightsaber is a bloody annoying task sometimes.
Then the game become really annoying. Areas could only be accessed by using a certain character's special ability. So I'd have to revisit the same area two and three times to clear it. But it's not as though there were notes or anything, so I could know which areas I hadn't completed or which parts of them, etc etc.
Then it became tiresome. The camera angles are annoying, I tend to stare at walls a lot, especially when under fire.
It became hopeless when the combination of camera angles and stupid puzzles made life really stupid. How come my partner character can't use the force to help me out a little?
Then it became entirely impossible. I'd have to have a special character to get into the level, and after playing for a significant period of time I'd run into a wall and be unable to continue. Great planning guys.
This game fails. It's unplayable.
I try again, and it's really annoying to have to keep track of what parts of what areas require what special character.. replayability wouldn't be possible for a player like me. I'd only bother replaying it if I played 2-player very very regularly.
Playing through.. there's one stage which isn't possible. I am physically unable to get through all the force-pulled platform nonsense. Maybe it's possible 2-player.. but it's certainly impossible alone. Sigh.
Maybe I should have the damned annoying long-eared dude to jump really high? But I can't figure out how to change characters..
