A technique of being mindful of, and pursuing naturalness in posture.

Intro ∞

The Alexander Technique, is, at its heart, about posture. The idea is that when mindfulness is applied to one’s posture this improvement snowballs into a broad range of health and well-being benefits.

A supplement to this is a mindfulness of breathing, relaxation and one’s outlook in general.

The Alexander Technique was developed by Frederick Matthias Alexander (1869 – 1955).

• The Alexander Technique has a concept of “conscious de-control”, performed through “central control”. Basically, focusing on a general balance so as to stop bad habits and allow good ones to come. Focus, to allow instinct to come to the foreground.
• Aldous Huxley preached it.
