Yet another Chrome derivative, but Microsoft took it seriously and made improvements.
- The default web browser on Windows 11

You gain access to an artificial intelligence if you use it.

(dates not recorded) - Edge was first meant to coax people away from Internet Explorer, and then it provided something of a compatibility layer or some such, and then it wholly replaced it.

Case-sensitive "find in page" (
control-f
) is implemented in Edge. I don't know for how long.

There is no "save as" feature!
- The solution was to use "Print to PDF" (Menu > Print)

For as long as I've tried it, it's has been shitty as fuck playing Bloons Tower Defense 5 (Flash). Using the keyboard is extraordinarily slow.
I've seen something of a similar issue with Pale Moon, such that I have to right-click to get the context menu in order to have flash stop its hiccup and work again, but even that isn't working any more for its distinct version of Flash.
Basically fuck Flash.
Edge is also slow as fuck, and the scroll wheel doesn't work.

edge://newtab/ as a blank page

Open favorites in new tab
Force the allowance of paste ∞
2024-07-30 - Not confirmed for Edge; this is a note from Chrome.
Some websites disable pasting, so they are unusable with password managers. To remedy this, open the developer console tools (F12
), and in the JavaScript console, paste:
var allowPaste = function(e){ e.stopImmediatePropagation(); return true; }; document.addEventListener('paste', allowPaste, true);
Open favorites in a column on the right ∞
control-shift-o
left-click
the ellipsis (...
) at the top-right-
left-click
the pin () icon at the top-right
TODO - As of 2024-07-30 it is (still!) not possible to open it on the left.
[WONTFIX] - Do not close browser with last tab ∞
This is not possible natively; it is an upstream missing feature from Chrome.
Notes ∞
-
bug 7134034 - Edge does not fire wheel events when scrolling using the 2-finger scroll gesture on a Precision Touchpad
- It took a while, but it got fixed!
Alternatives ∞
Other browsers are built with some of Chrome's open source components:
