I always find it curious there is a website owned by a browser manufacturer which happens to not work with another browser (like with the GMail contacts list).

When using the YouTube quick list, and autoplaying through it, scrolling up to see previous items in the right-hand mini quicklist doesn’t generally work. Scrolling all the way down through 100 videos is a terrible idea, and Firefox’s classic 100% CPU issue comes back.

Did you know about this? I didn’t.  Thanks to some random surfing and an EFF post, I just learned of it.

With this browser plugin you can permanently opt out of the DoubleClick cookie, which is an advertising cookie that Google uses. The plugin lets you keep your opt-out status for this browser even when you clear all cookies.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve updated/upgraded only to be kicked in the teeth by some smartass programmer’s bright idea for a feature.

It’s one thing to add bloat to a program, it’s another to force it down your users throat.

I really don’t mind having a featureful program.  Really, I don’t.  However, when I’m used to things working one way I don’t like having things change without my permission.

I also really hate when that happens and I can’t figure out how to change things back the way they were.

I decided to check out the newest version of Firefox. I didn’t do it because of my Flash issues, but because I had heard of the new JavaScript. Ok, I should say the “old” original SpiderMonkey engine from Netscape Navigator which has now been updated to become TraceMonkey.

Firefox has traditionally been a pig of a program, and so it doesn’t surprise me to see them drop entire chunks of code in preference to a rewritten component. This is the smart thing to do.
