Tor can be thought of like a secure proxy.

I experimented with it during my research on Replacing Firefox.

UPDATE: Tor has been subverted for some time. I know when and how, with confirmation, but not by whom.

It must not be used for high-level security requirements (governmental, military, international) and probably even mid-level requirements (corporate, police). Little people using it as a proxy are fine.

Don’t do anything illegal with it if you’re within three degrees of a Bad Guy. So.. don’t use it for anything illegal. Remember that PRISM records everything, so that, once flagged, you can be found retroactively guilty (even by association) for past internet usage.

UPDATE: Firefox is a pig when in use, but not when idle.  It turns out that GMail is the pig!

Don’t get me wrong, It’s my main browser and it looks like it’ll stay that way.  I was using it when it was called Phoenix, and then Firebird.

But boy is it a memory-leaking pig of a program.

Firefox 3.0.8

What a wonderful experience this was.

First, I’ll make it clear that I don’t have a memory.  I don’t even bother.  So when things just “feel wrong”, I get rather bothered because I can’t think back to figure out what the heck is actually wrong with some kind of freakish photographic memory like Lord Nikon of Hackers – (1995 movie) can.  Ugh, you know I’m pissed off when I hack together a clumsy sentence like that.
