A light window manager.
Very nice; a definite contender.

A keyboard-oriented window manager.
Clunky in places, and some things were non-obvious and needed some reading.
My hands hurt after using it for a little while, because the default hotkeys are Wrong. Heck, the defaults aren’t just “not for me”, the defaults are bad. Because of poor documentation, it’s too much work for me to figure out how to customize it the way I want.
Abandoned – No longer under development, forked into notion

One of the more popular window managers.
I tried it a long time ago. Tested very briefly. Strongly dislike because of speed issues. Didn’t test for long enough to learn about the style of applications etc. I’ve developed a bias against Gnome in preference for KDE for reasons I can’t articulate. Gnome is kinda pretty, but KDE keeps my attention.
Gnome 2 was forked and continued by a new team as MATE.

I’ve used it. I like it just fine. I just find it a bit too shiny for my tastes and prefer Openbox.
I’d like to try this again one day

A straightforward but powerful window manager.
Openbox has been my window manager of choice for years now. Over that time, I’ve amassed some significant knowledge which I’ll try to maintain here.
A component of LXDE.

A light window manager. Based on Blackbox. Not bad, but not as good as Blackbox. I liked Openbox more than this.
Blackbox has been obsoleted six ways from Sunday. See versus Blackbox.
