I knew about Granular Linux only through Unity Linux.  It ended up being a recommendation as a base system from which I could compile various window managers[doesn’t exist] for testing.  Well, after having exhausted so many other distributions lately, I decided to give it a shot.  Since I had been so dismissive of my earlier efforts, I decided to spend more time with this one.

  • 2014-08-02 – It’s gone.
  • Was to have switched to Unity Linux, but I don’t think it did.

Appears to have a good philosophy. In reality it’s over-limited to the point of making life convenient for the developers at the expense of inconveniencing the users.

A keyboard-oriented window manager.

Clunky in places, and some things were non-obvious and needed some reading.

My hands hurt after using it for a little while, because the default hotkeys are Wrong. Heck, the defaults aren’t just “not for me”, the defaults are bad. Because of poor documentation, it’s too much work for me to figure out how to customize it the way I want.
